I probably would have gone with dark blue or white engines. And the 737 titles on the tail...eh.

Sort of a vintage livery with that stripe. I kind of like it!

I personally think that livery looks great on the 737. I hope the new Eastern will find more success then some of the other recent start-up attempts we've seen in the US.

It looks nice, but I really don't get what's the thing with reviving yesteryears airlines.

Feels like some old people living in the past with a very unhealthy attitude towards the present and the future got their hands on way too much cash.

I would guess that for most present-day passengers, the revival of yesteryear airlines is irrelevant; they will continue to purchase based upon price, convenience, etc. However, I'm sure there are a number of passengers who want to fly on it purely for nostalgia sake, even though it will have no resemblance to the previous incarnation. But, for a start up in need passengers – and revenue – I think they will take everyone they can get, and if having a "legendary" name helps to fill in some of those seats, why not? I just wish them better success than the recent PeoplExpress, Pan Am, or even the extremely short-term revival of my beloved Western Airlines!

I have heard, but do not recall where, that some of the investors/management were at one time attached to the original Eastern. Anyone else heard that?

I think it makes it easier to brand from what it was. Creating a new brand is difficult, and very expensive. If anything, Eastern is a great name for an airline, and easily recognized for some of us older fogies! LOL!

I really like it. I never thought they would get this far! Now, I am excited to see them get airborne.

Great to see a classic livery that isn't a retro jet.

On the MRJs, will they paint "MRJ" on the tail like how this tail says "737"?

The white hockey scheme had painted engines as part of the cheat line on the 727. The 1011 wore unpainted engines.

I wish the new 738 had a slightly wider cheat line, and a polished belly. That would be awesome.>

I totally share this sentiment.

None of the original Eastern planes actually looked exactly like this one. The Boeing 7-7 titles were originally used on the B757 only. Legacy did however paint the rear-mounted engine nacelles on the DC9 and B727, matching the cheat line: mostly baby blue and the bottom in navy blue.

Wow, I like it as EA was one of my favorite airlines when I was a kid. The aircraft titles on the tail and the blue colored engines are fantastic as they remind me of the old livery. I really wish them well and hope they will do some charter flights to Curacao

When is the first flight and do they have plans to fly to the Caribbean? If so, when will they start flights to the Caribbean?

Even though I'm skeptic about bringing back an airline name, I glad to see again Eastern's livery. However I think the engines should have been painted the same color as the belly, even if I really like that shade of blue.

Isn't that aqua blue the wrong shade of blue? Takes me back to the 70s and 80s ,when being an aviation nut was much more interesting.

So this is what happens when a bunch of nostalgic airline nuts get their hands on enough cash to buy a 737

Seriously, though, the aircraft looks beautiful and I wish the company all the best. It seems that their plan is to start slowly, offering charter flights at first, and then grow into adding scheduled service, according to an online news article from a few months ago. Is this still the case?

Correct. Begin with charters from Miami, and slowly build a scheduled network 18-24 months later hubbed out of MIA.

It is refreshing to see a US carrier - any US carrier - reintroducing a cheatline in their livery. After all, there is a reson liveries with cheat lines were nearly ubiquitous for over a half-century: they look damn good on a commercial airframe.

Wow, my old hometown airline is back; or is it.....Past is prologue? We'll see. Never thought I'd see the day when another EAL jet took to the skies under the original livery.

I have heard they are hiring like mad, and there are original EAL employees are involved, some at high levels.
..everything works out in the end.

I enjoy the painted engines in that color. I think it looks fresh and modern. The scheme looks great overall, it is nice to see it back on an aircraft. In my opinion, it has a classic timelessness to it like the former American Airlines scheme. I think Delta's 80's/90's widget livery is also in that club. It still looks great today like it did back then!

As for the New Eastern, I think white engines would look better - Like on the model of the MRJ90.

I'm generally opposed to anachronistic schemes other than one-off retro jets, but his scheme works well. I'd have gone with dark blue on the engines. The original 757 titles were because they were the launch customer for the 757. I don't hink it's necessary on the 737. Overall, looks good.

Either way, I'm THRILLED beyond words to see the EA livery again!

I really like it. Wonderfully retro, but has nice clean lines. I even like the engine colour choice. As a design hut, I like it!

The thing I don't like is the use of the Lucida Handwriting font for the name on the nose. I mean, who chose that?!?! It's horrible and doesn't connect in any way with the rest of the scheme!!

It was a pretty unfortunate choice, but doesn't detract from the overall thrill of seeing this aircraft. I'm looking forward to seeing the first ones off the Boeing assembly line; do we have a timetable on when that occurs?

It's like dream when you wake up and thought you're at airport and saw a blast from past, but something is slightly different such as this case with blue engines, sort of abstract dream. Right....back to reality.

I like the brand connecting to yesteryear etc but the blue engines look out of place. Personally silver underbelly, grey engines, maybe with small Eastern logo would've been better but sure it will grow.

I've missed the cheat line, and good to see it back instead of the usual disappointments of late.

I think this livery looks quite good on the 737-800. Through my travels through the aircraft maintenance world over the last 3 decades I have met a lot of ex-Eastern employees/mechanics and I bet they are enjoying this brief journey/blast from the past. Here is to all of the former employees of a once great airline.    . Maybe these guys can pull it off??

I wonder what their long-term vision is. Do they want to become like a SE version of B6 or VX? Or more of an ULCC like F9 and NK? Do they eventually want widebodies for international service, or are they going to stay domestic/Caribbean?

I honestly think the dark blue on the engines would have been awesome, but light blue is ok, otherwise love it, sure it's a homage to times past, but you know what, it's a new airline and it's something different to talk about compared to the usual stuff we have to work with around here...

So good luck to Eastern, I hope they work out. You know they will have made it when they suddenly appear in enilria's OAG report...
