AA Mainline MKE-DFW

Mon Nov 10, 2014 7:34 pm

For many of us we have been blessed with the recent addition Legacy AA (LAA) from MKE-DFW. With 4 daily departures making for easy connections and great service. Some changes are on the horizon. In December we will see a reduction in service.

Current service through December 17.

0605 DFW S80 LAA
1100 DFW S80 LAA
1500 DFW S80 LAA
1740 DFW S80 LAA

From December 18 thru January 5.

0605 DFW S80 LAA
1045 DFW EMJ Envoy
1435 DFW EMJ Envoy
1740 DFW S80 LAA

From January 6 thru February 11.

0558 DFW S80 LAA (operates only Mondays & Tuesdays)
1058 DFW S80 LAA
1500 DFW S80 LAA
1745 DFW S80 LAA

Hopefully AA will continue to bless MKE with LAA Mainline service into the spring and summer of 2015 as for now its too soon to know.

AA has been a mix of mainline and eagle flying for several years.

Seems like this would be a good market for the A319... that or more freq using the soon new addition in DFW - CR9's... (as much as I don't like RJ's everywhere and especially CRJ's of any type.)

For those who don't know, MKE-DFW has been 2 M80 and 3 ERJ for a year or two. It had been an all-RJ route for years (usually 5x 50-seat but occasionally a CR7) but with YX/F9 pulling out they upgraded two flights to M80.

--Several months back they changed just the October schedule to be 4x M80 instead of 2 M80 / 3 ERJ.

--Weeks later they changed just the November schedule to 4x M80 as well.

--Not long ago they pushed the 4x M80 schedule into January and early February, but the early-AM nonstop only runs Monday/Tuesday.

The change from 2 M80 / 3 ERJ to 4x M80 is a capacity increase of around 30%. I wondered if AA would keep this capacity increase up for the depths of the winter. I don't like that the early-AM flight only operated Monday/Tuesday during this period, but if AA goes back to 4x/day M80 with mid February and pushes that onward, it's a good outcome. I'd prefer them sub an ERJ for the early-AM flight the rest of the week, but hopefully it's a short-lived trim.

MKE-DFW at 4x/day M80 is not bad given the size and length of the market. As long as they resume a workable schedule I think this is a positive development.

AA ORD-DFW is a very crowded route    and DFW-MKE deserves an identity on its own, consolidating these dedicated services and avoiding the ground transfer between MKE and ORD.
Authorities of the airline could have already studied how much is the Milwaukee component within the Chicago metropolitan area, in order to stimulate the MKE-DFW flights which seem to be appropriate for connections through DFW on AA.

Regards.

Quoting knope2001 (Reply 4):
but the early-AM nonstop only runs Monday/Tuesday.

This will be fixed probably over the weekend. It's clear this is an error.

I flew AA 2292 MKE/DFW, which is roughly a 3pm departure, back on Sunday, October 5, and it was PACKED to the gills. Not a single empty seat. Hopefully that is the norm and not the exception for these flights so they stay all full size jets.
