Late 70s QF 707 Routes

Thu Nov 20, 2014 5:35 am

I'm interested to know what routes QF operated their 707s on in their last few years of operation. Say 1975 onwards.

I know the last flight was POM-BNE

I'm quite sure I still saw them occasionally in AKL during their last years of service.

In Dec 1976 I did Nandi - Hawaii- LAX in a QF707.
It was during the aircraft terrorism scare, and I remember in Hawaii the pax being locked in a lounge with armed (machine guns) guards, before being allowed back on the aircraft.
I presume the 2 stops were for fuel but can't remember.

QF didn't fly to LAX in the 70's, so it would've had to have been to SFO......just nit picking, but..

Flew QF 707'S SYD/NAN/SYD in 1970, then 1972 did a LHR/AMS sector before returning back AMS/IST/BAH/SIN/SYD. As a young child it was a long flight and wasn't as impressive as doing the 747 on the way to Europe, but looking back on it now, so glad I got to do those trips.

There were 4 SYD - POM per week (2 via BNE) flying under the PX banner - I suspect they may have been operated with QF 707's.
As an aside 48 years married (3 and a bit "life sentences" - assuming a life sentence is 15 years!).
