Good grief! Still no LUV for RDU? What's up with that? We've been stagnant for quite a while now.

WN getting in on the SEA battle?

All seasonal routes that are returning... SEA-LAX could be next. Maybe WN is going to help DL put pressure on AS...

WN is much stronger in BNA, MCI, STL, and HOU than either DL or AS.

Southwest has a big announcement in Denver today. Apparently 12 new routes!

I personally think that WN is (very wisely) staying clear of SEA-LAX for the foreseeable future; I think they would've done it now along with LA-PDX if they were interested.

Quoting usflyguy (Reply 51):

Correct. All these SEA adds are simply returning seasonal routes (much of it for cruise-season.)

The add of LA-PDX is not surprising to me; that route has some wiggle room for more capacity (especially with VX's axing of the city-pair entirely) and the expectation that AA -- and maybe even NK -- will probably be entering it sometime in 2015...

There are barely 12 cities that make any sense that they don't already serve:

My guess is 6 of them must be international.

Other 6: DSM, MEM, CLT and a few others maybe? Who knows. I'll believe it when I see it.

Sorry, yes. It's been gone for so long (close to 10 years, I think) that I didn't see it on Usxflyguy's lists of returning routes.

No new routes, only additional flights to existing cities. This makes much more sense now!

12 flights not 12 routes.

http://www.denverpost.com/business/c...ights-jobs-at-denver-international

The expansion is not directly related to Frontier Airlines' recent announcement of job cuts and flight reductions at DIA, Watterson said.
Of course not...

According to the Denver Post article, this will be a net gain of 11 flights to 185 flights. This will still keep DEN behind MDW, LAS, and BWI but firmly as the 4th largest WN station.

Here are some of the changes I've noticed so far:
DEN-AUS +1
DEN- PDX +1
DEN-MSP +1
DEN-SEA +1
DEN-BWI +1
DEN-BOS +1
DEN-MCO +1
DEN-RDU +1
DEN-PIT +1
DEN-CMH +1

DEN-PHX -1
DEN-LAS -1

This was run last year as well. So tech a returning route. Hopefully it'll become a daily flight someday......

No frequency comparison. I'll be interested to see what happened to ATL on total flights.

Maybe WN is going to help DL put pressure on AS...

Or help AS put pressure on DL.

Regardless, it will help us Puget Sounder's get some nice airfares and options to SoCal. To me, though, I have always liked doing the one-stop, same-plane thing SEA-XXX-SoCal/Arizona. It's about the only way I'd be seeing OAK/RNO/SJC/SMF.

B6 won't like this

Neither will DL.

Surprised BOS-DAL was not added. Have there been other DAL routes that have been mentioned verbally but not started by WN yet?

I noticed PHL-ATL remains at 3x daily and not getting a summer increase back to what it was last summer. Meanwhile the FLL/PBI seasonal routes end, and TPA drops to one flight. PHL-ATL advance fares look lower this year.. Perhaps WN is trying to dissuade F9 that announced it but hasn't launched it in it's booking engine. PHL is likely the smallest it has been from WN, taking into consideration the absorption of FL as well.

PIT-ATL remains at 2x daily as well.

Also from the list, it looks like OAK is getting LUV again with additions of service to BNA and MSY compared to the prior trend when SFO opened and grew, and OAK activity decreased.

DL is happy. They will increase to 12x flts/day on ATL-PHL during the summer

The WN route map shows a non stop PNS-MDW flight. Is this true or an error? I dont remember that being announced.

It is true - although Saturday only. Starts March 7 and runs through the rest of the published schedule.

Part of the emphasis on punctuality, perhaps? Growth in places like SFO and LGA has been a large part of WN's recent spate of atrocious ontime numbers.
