Quoting mfc (Reply 2): I've heard they are adding 6 A320s, 3 for IB and 3 for IBS. |
Quoting jfk777 (Reply 5): IB has a huge fleet of A340-600 but has it ever used the full range of that plane ? NO |
Quoting GRJGeorge (Reply 6): Hoping IB considers a return to JNB soon |
Quoting acelanzarote (Reply 4): Hope the MAN times are better, the last few atempts seem to have failed for some reason or other. |

Quoting mfc (Reply 12): They could also lease used ones as they have done recently. |
Quoting r2rho (Reply 9): If not JNB, definitely more Africa in general. They can cover all of West Africa with (higher frequency) A319/A320's, whereas others have to fill at least an A332. A 3x weekly A332 to JNB should work too. Their flight to Luanda apparently does very well, as do their current West Africa routes. They should build on this kind of "out-of-the-box" thinking. |
Quoting jfk777 (Reply 5): Iberia needs to find the Indian and Pacific Oceans, among the "New" routes they should at least fly to Qatar and connect with Qatar Air's system to the east. Flying to Cathay's HKG hub would be better. In this day and age when the Me3 fly to GRU and EZE the airline of the "Spanish Motherland" can fly beyond its former colonies in the Americas. IB has a huge fleet of A340-600 but has it ever used the full range of that plane ? NO. Just because they flew a 747 to Japan for years via Moscow and the route was a looser doesn't mean they should never fly to Asia again. |
Quoting EGPH (Reply 16): Interesting to see EDI back, IB Express did that route during Summer 13 on a seasonal basis however it was not carried on into Summer 14 and rumor had it it was because they had been mauled by EasyJet and pax number were dismal |
Quoting thekorean (Reply 18): doesn't regional flights in EU hemorrhage money? I suppose IB long haul needs the connecting Passengers. |
Quoting r2rho (Reply 9): IB has a huge fleet of A340-600 but has it ever used the full range of that plane ? NO It has certainly used every bit of payload-range out of it. |
Quoting SCQ83 (Reply 22): MAD-EZE is almost 13 hours. |
Quoting EGPH (Reply 16): Interesting to see EDI back, IB Express did that route during Summer 13 on a seasonal basis however it was not carried on into Summer 14 and rumor had it it was because they had been mauled by EasyJet and pax number were dismal. I have to say though my comparison of fares during the Summer 13 run found IB a lot more expensive than EZY on any given day. |

Quoting migair54 (Reply 23): In this topic, you can see the IB presentation, and they say clearly that they are considering new markets, also that that the A340 are going to stay at least until 2020 and they will continue operating "hot and high" airports" and IB consider MEX, SFO, BOG and UIO. |
Quoting thekorean (Reply 18): doesn't regional flights in EU hemorrhage money? |
Quoting Markam (Reply 13): Perhaps BOS will be back to year-round soon? Or even a return to IAD? |
Quoting jfk777 (Reply 21): Where has IB used the "full" range of the A340-600 ? |
