Quoting gemuser (Reply 144): Again, you make these unsubstantiated claims about the QF/EK JV! Give some evidence or stop it!!! |
Quoting planesmart (Reply 151): In the not too distant future, perhaps another A380 operator will disclose a regional alliance with EK, where disclosure requirements result in more detail, so you can extrapolate those to QF. |
Quoting qfvhoqa (Reply 147): If QF aren't offering the same product to Asia that they do to LHR & USA, then they must feel there is a difference. |
Quote: Welcome to Skytrans Dear valued passengers, suppliers, staff, key stakeholder and friends of Skytrans, Skytrans Pty Ltd, the Cairns based, family owned and commercially operated airline which celebrated its 25th year of serving the people and communities of North Queensland, carried its last passenger this afternoon, Friday 2nd January 2015. Skytrans Pty Ltd has made the decision to cease trading, effective immediately. As the Managing Director, I will seek legal and financial advice over the next few days regarding options for the business moving forward, but to be clear, it does not include the recommencement of flights in the short to medium term. As Managing Director I have a lawful responsibility to notify regulators and other significant stakeholders when there are key impacts on the business. This has been one of those times. This is not only a sad day for the business, but more importantly for our staff and indeed the passengers and communities of North Queensland. Yesterday, the 1st of January 2015 marked our 25th anniversary of serving the people of Queensland, particularly outback and regional Queensland, the Gulf country and Cape York. Today there is no celebration, beyond the pride everyone in Skytrans shares in having delivered a safe reliable passenger and freight service to communities as diverse as Birdsville and Boulia, Bamaga and Brisbane. We will miss them all, for they have all been relationships built over a lifetime of trust and mutual support, collaboration and shared endeavour, and good old fashioned friendships forged easily between good people. |
Quoting Rotation (Reply 160): Just landed at MEL before and have noticed heaps of go arounds occurring - SQ207, a couple of VA flights (ADL and CHC), JQ. Doesn't seem to be normal - possible debris on the runway or is something else going on? |
Quoting alatar144 (Reply 162): Hello everyone, Just wanted to introduce myself! I've been a long time lurker and member (though not paid up) for sometime now and I'm an AVID reader of all the Australian Aviation threads. My local airport is Bathurst (yay me!) but soon to be Port Macquarie. I'm looking forward to chiming in from time to time in these threads and the Aussie related ones too, when time permits. As a high school teacher, I have no connection to aviation from a professional standpoint, I'm just a keen (somewhat too keen haha) observer. Cheers, Tom |
Quoting AirNiugini (Reply 168): Does anyone know when QPA is due out for the Hanger with the new interiors fitted? |
Quoting Airvan00 (Reply 169): VH-EBV was the first with the new product and flew SYD -PER on 31 dec. |
Quoting AirNiugini (Reply 171): |

Quoting qfvhoqa (Reply 172): They have actually chosen to fly to SAW instead of IST |
Quoting cbrboy (Reply 173): I'm wondering what happens to the 744 during the week between the outbound and return flights? |
Quoting AirNiugini (Reply 174): Maybe OJA is going to stick around for a little longer. |
Quoting cbrboy (Reply 173): Speaking of seat sales, QF is also unable to charge a premium for a unique service - the seats are being priced the same as the EK services to and from IST. |

Quoting AirNiugini (Reply 174): Maybe OJA is going to stick around for a little longer. |
Quoting cbrboy (Reply 176): Australian Aviation reports that the outward service (at least) will be operated by a 364-seat (ie refurbished) aircraft. |

Quoting qfvhoqa (Reply 177): OJA has not only returned from it's retirement flight to LAX, it has also been in service for the past week. Maybe the fleet was going to be stretched too thin with 744s on SYD-YVR & MEL-LAX and A380 on SYD-HKG? |
Quoting BA174 (Reply 158): I know OJI was supposed to follow shortly behind. |
Quoting threefourthree (Reply 180): I've read an A380, VH-OQF and a 747, VH-OJS were hit by catering trucks hence the use of VH-OJA |

Quoting qfvhoqa (Reply 172): They have actually chosen to fly to SAW instead of IST. I guess this is a charter that they have extra seats available to sell. The schedule isn't too friendly for ex-PER pax with a 2:30am departure to SAW. SYD-PER 2130-0030 PER-SAW 0230-1230 SAW-PER 1400-0920 PER-SYD 1100-1715 |
Quoting TN486 (Reply 163): Some photos of ac activity at Bathurst and Port Macquarie would be good if and when you can, cheers. |
Quoting 777Jet (Reply 166): Welcome to the forum Tom! I lurked for over a decade before joining but I was glad when I finally joined... However, the amount of time I spend on this site might result in a divorce so I need to be careful I used to work overseas as a TEFL teacher and I have the most respect for teachers - one of the most overworked and underpaid professions out there... |
Quoting Flyingsottsman (Reply 167): Welcome Tom I was like you read a lot before becoming a member and yes I am married to a school teacher anyway welcome |
Quoting smi0006 (Reply 185): Does anyone know when the 738 refurbs will start? |
Quoting smi0006 (Reply 185): If only our airports matched the high standards of choice and service we enjoy with our Airlines, we would have one of the most enjoyable aviation industries in the world from a passenger perspective. |
Quoting Sydscott (Reply 188): I'm going to say it again, having been in PER again for Christmas what an utterly appalling job Westralia Airports are doing managing Perth Airport. A Virgin terminal that is hugely delayed and behind schedule, an International terminal that its A380 gate delayed multiple times and a Qantas domestic terminal which is simply not big enough for the pax volume. I'm really surprised that the Federal Government doesn't more actively seek compliance with the terms of the airports lease because you can compare that debacle to the excellent work that has happened at ADL over the same period. |

Quoting cbrboy (Reply 190): Sparked by Sydscott's comments about Perth Airport, I'll also venture that you will be pleasantly surprised by the excellent new(ish) Canberra Airport. If you are a high-status QF frequent flyer then the QF Business Lounge is really good. |
Quoting cbrboy (Reply 190): There's plenty of interesting things to see and do in Canberra. |

Quoting csturdiv (Reply 192): The 717 IFE will not be a problem, I have my own tablet and also have a window seat so I will be looking at scenery for part of the country that I have not seen yet. |
Quoting allrite (Reply 194): I've got plenty of trip reports here if you are interested, but so far none on the 717. |
Quoting luftaom (Reply 195): It's interesting that AC seems to have switched from 77L to 77W for the summer season. No wonder QF was keen to run some YVR services. |
