Easyjet New Livery?

Fri Dec 12, 2014 8:16 pm

Seems they have a new livery or are experimenting with a new one?

Photo on the left in the link was apparently taken at Luton today.

Probably a short term lease from someone like Titan or the like...

Edit: Seems after a little bit of research that it is indeed a Titan airframe currently on lease to U2 and should be G-POWI  Smile

The aircraft in question is G-EZUA, and was rolled out of the paint shop at Southend yesterday. It would appear that this is actually the new easyJet livery.

I like it better than their old/current one, which I would describe as 'annoying'. It isn't a wonderful livery like RJ's, KL's, or EI's, but easyjet is an LCC, and for an LCC it's ok.

Not bad. Somewhat plain, but a logical approach which doesn't mess anything up with a radical approach.

Whether it is just a test aircraft or actually their new livery I like it, especially the rear. I just find the small titles at the front a bit odd.

It is very surprising that the new one does not mirror the different lines and shades of orange that easyJet use on their website or promotional material. I was expecting a new livery to be in line with that.

It looks ugly and boring in my opinion, they should have done something like the website with different shades. This livery doesn't seem to stand out, looks more like some quick stickers that have been slapped on to a leased aircraft.

I hope this is just some sort of 'test' livery to see what people think, I really really hope.

It looks better with Sharklets as the lines go with the tail (although the Sharklets are wrong in this rendering, look at the leading edge). I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think it needs more orange, and possibly a new font.

Maybe when I see a high-res image of the aircraft I might begin to like the livery, it just feels like a downgrade from the previous livery!

You really cannot tell that from the picture? Granted, it's blurry, but it's enough to suggest that someone at Luton is on something.

Reminds me a lot of the half arsed effort that was the interim livery applied to ex GB Airways aircraft following the takeover. A good look it was not: https://www.airliners.net/photo/EasyJ...d=60e110b47f9fa1429410b93402acb170

I think they should have rolled out that inverted colors design throughout their whole fleet. I really don't like this livery, looks like it was thought up in 5 minutes and sent straight to the paintshop from there.

This would look perfectly fine with billboard titles Like the current Livery. I echo others in the thread that the small titles and empty fuselage make it look like a short term lease.

My take...

The font needs to be billboard!

The titles on the tail do not match the angle of the tail! (first picture, could be the angle it was taken)

The location of the registration is too high! (near the upper left corner of the rear cabin doors)

I like the use of Orange over the tail section!

I like the use of Orange on the engines without the titles of the airline name!

I like the use of Orange for the winglets! sorry "sharklets"

I like the eurowhite!

Would of looked better (cleaner) if they chose to paint the wings white! (as opposed to aluminium grey)

Needs a more prominent Union Jack! (why not? be proud)!

I work for the company who do branding for easyJet and I have never understood how the much sharper web branding wasn't reflected in a livery update. This looks *worse* and is further away from the rest of the corporate look than the old livery.

All that "white" fuselage that could be used as advertising space, (either Contact details or third party).

Horrible. Far too white, boring.

Should of gone for the reversed orange/white, but I guess that is a lot of orange paint per aircraft!

It may grow on me, it's a bit difficult to tell until seeing a high-res photo or the aircraft up close, I can't believe there aren't more photos of it, considering that G-EZUA has been operating revenue flights since receiving a new paint job and hasn't been kept in a hangar somewhere.

In my personal opinion, a scheme that incorporated the lines/waves in different shades of orange that can be seen on other forms of branding from the airline such as the website, magazine and signage would have looked great on the rear fuselage and engines or even just on the horizontal stabilizer and rudder. I can't decide on the logo at the back, it looks quite good, but then it was also effective on the tail.

A 'band' of pattern/blocks would have looked quite cool on other areas of fuselage, a bit like Sata's livery!

The titles look a bit too small on the front for my liking.

Could they be preparing for another special livery and have just used a mock up of a livery on a CGI image as a base frame though? My thoughts on it though, reflect on the livery assuming it be rolled out across the entire fleet.

Quoting bennett123 (Reply 28):

Whilst contact details had some significance on the livery when the airline first started and when the website was originally launched, 99% of people will think twice about putting ".com" at the end when they think of easyJet. Again, the airline has such a massive presence within Europe that it's not really necessary to add a web address anymore, and I think it also detracts from the refined and more upmarket image that they are trying to achieve in order to catch more business pax and pax who would usually fly with a flag carrier?

In my opinion, the latter point about advertising space for a third party doesn't really fit in with the airline's image and it again, gives it a sense of cheapness to it. A flight can be cheap, but it doesn't mean that the airline's image has to be. That's just my opinion though!

Quoting skipness1E (Reply 27):

My thoughts exactly! I'm very surprised that some of the other design elements aren't there.

I've just spoken to an EZY first officer who flew with a Captain that flew it yesterday (I know; a guy who knows a guy etc) and apparently it was painted at Lasham and appears to be unauthorised, which makes me believe that it could be part of a new livery (the tail) with the other part coming later.

We appear to have another half.......attempt at a new livery. Not very professional, almost child like.

The orange-ala-Qantas could work if they had a new logo instead of just text and maybe introduced a second colour e.g dark blue into livery?

Hopefully this current livery won't reach the rest of the fleet.

Completely reversed would have had it with a white tail and orange titles on it, and in the process would have became the "Little Pumpkin"of easyJet unlike Braniff's own "Great Pumpkin"...   I'd still enjoy it though.

Aren't they trying to remove themselves from the 'cheap' airline market to compete with the likes of BA?

This design is plain but what livery isn't? It suits the more sophisticated airline they are trying to be.

Better picture. I dont think it looks too bad. I like the small titles on the main fuse, giving it a bit of a cleaner, somewhat less LCC look (like NK). I think the titles on the tail though are too large and not angled correctly. Decent change, still much better revision than the likes of WN, NK, and IB.
