My personal theory is that MSN 1760 is the cancelled msn 1707

It would also mean a swap from RR to PW engines. Is an engine type change possible on the A330?

I'm sure its possible for all types, but just a lot of work. I know that some of the early built A330s that were delivered to CX were initially GE during the A330 flight testing.

It has been done. Qatar took an A330 with GE that had orginally flown with PW.

What is with Avianca and Avianca Brasil? The former is returning a rather new A330 (N508AV, line 1508) to the lessor, the latter has so far failed to take delivery of 4 brand new A330 frames, all of which are now stored at Teruel, Spain.

for Avianca Brazil the qustion is the economic crisis, it´s not a good time to start new international flights, even in the Brazil-Florida routes. I think they will wait for the economy to recover, but there are no signs that this will happens in the next 2 years, this (mis)government is ruining the contry economy

For Avianca, AFAIK the A330-200s were a temporary solution until the 787s arrive.

In the order to find out as accurate as possible ratio of the share of the engine manufacturers in the production of the . A330 aircraft, I have collected the data, some of which are probably accurate while some other values could be highly approximate and very close to those real numbers.
However, I believe that the shown databases and graphs made on their basis give a pretty good insight into the engine market share of the Airbus A330 aircraft.

We could start with an overview of the models of the Airbus A330 aircraft ...
---------------------------------------
. A330 models

.

---------------------------------------------------
. A330-200 production

.

.

---------------------------------------------------
. A330-300 production

.

.

In the moment when the production of the Airbus A330ceo aircrafts will be discontinued, and the production of those new types, A330-800 and A330-900, begin, the story will be quite different as the both types of the aircraft will be powered exclusively by the new . Trent 7000 engines ...

Nice regards

Probably too much work, but it would be fun to see the engine type marketshare development per year. It should be rather different in 2005 vs 2015?

Since You have, Someone83, mentioned years 2005 and 2015, I made a little databases concerning the Airbus A330´s productions till the end of Dec. 2005 as and Jan. 2016. I believe that some interesting conclusions could be drawn from them ...

.

.

To my knowledge, the only . A330 aircraft that serves as the test one is Airbus A330-203, MSN 871, reg. F-WWCB, powered by twin . CF6-80E1A3 turbofans, each 297,5 kN - 68.530 lb s.t.

Do you have some info on MSN 1707? This frame was canceled by Air Asia but was never seen in assembly. MSN 1712 on the other hand, also canceled by Air Asia, was seen in assembly. There is a theory that MSN 1760 is 1707.

MSN1600 / 1646 / 1674 are also XFA01 and in the database are all with Air Asia X livery.

MSN 1712 is Air Asia NTU (Not Taken Up). In fact, the aircraft was seen with Air Asia X tail at the end of last month:

Now the question would be, why was MSN 1712 built, and MSN 1707 not? My guess is that MSN 1707 was skipped to take the lower production rate into account, just like MSN 1652, 1661, 1682, 1683, 1702 and 1705 were skipped.

PS. Did not find a better thread for it.

Interesting, but we would also need OEW to get the most interesting information. Only OEW increase or also Payload increase because more load on the wings
