With this new gate agreement, is Delta still limited to the current ATL only schedule? Or will there be enough open gate times to add additional markets? Originally DL had a very aggressive schedule planed if they had won the rights to the former AA gates.

Actually, it is. Delta wasn't a leaseholder in 2006 when the 20-gate cap was put in place, and they haven't been a leaseholder at DAL for years. They were subletting a gate from AA, but DOJ forced AA to give up its DAL gates as a merger concession.

They could likely add five or six daily flights which would allow a couple of additional markets, but it would require creative scheduling and potentially be a nightmare during IRROPS.

On the subject of DL at DAL, can we get/commission one of our resident Dallas photographers (Tim Perkins, Jonathan Morgan, Andy Egloff, Alessandro Lukas) to get some good pics of a DL 717 at the new DAL? Posted in the database, I mean...
Heck, I'll treat someone to the Whataburger on Northwest Highway there, next time I'm in town!

Living in Plano (for you non-Dallas people, that's a suburb), I'm closer to DFW, but the artificial limit on the number of gates is just plain anti-competitive and wrong. They ought to re-build on the site of the old Legend terminal on Lemmon Avenue, which used to hold 6 gates, which would add capacity.

This'd be a great time for Washington and/or Dallas to repeal that section to allow for more competition at DAL. Sure AA would cry over it for a couple of days but hey, at least DL, WN and VX would be happy in the end to get more gates.

I've been considering this, now that there are more WNs, VX A319s, and DL 717s to shoot. Love used to be a bit boring, but now maybe not so much.

I was enjoying the KT trail over Christmas vacation, and several Virgin birds flew right over.
So go snap us up a Delta 717!
Chicken strips, burgers, Texas toast.... what better bribe could there be!??!

EDITED to add: What I'm really after, though, is a pic of the Delta 717s with some good Love Field infrastructure in the background. Because otherwise, you've just got another one of thousands of photos of a plane with a sky blue background.... and we seriously don't need that.

DL is limited to the 5 flights to ATL and this is it. That is all UA agreed to let them use the gate for. Also UA has preferential use meaning if things goes IRROPS UA has the right to use both of their gates to get their flights out if needed before DL can use it.

Yes the current situation at Love Field is anti competitive. It is exactly what Southwest wanted and what they want in Dallas they get.

speaking of gate usage at Dallas Love Field, and the restriction on the use of hardstands, where does SeaPort Airlines park? They fly Cessna 208 Caravan aircraft on a Love Field - El Dorado, AR - Hot Springs, AR routing, correct?

Yeah, I fly in and out of there almost every week . Thanks man! Funny, recently someone on one of my flights messaged me on YouTube. It went were you in seat 5A on flight XXX? I know what you mean. United gate 15 is like that. It reminds me of some of the gates at DFW or some of the international ones at IAH terminal E. I don't get why UA gate is like that because when we land there we use the door closest to the gate and not have to use that long walkway. You know what next time I'm there I'm going to pay very close attention to the walls and area around these gates. I'm wondering if these were built with FIS in mind.

Seaport uses Virgin gates.
