Airbus And Boeing 2015 Orders

Sun Jan 18, 2015 11:33 pm

This thread is for discussion relating to Airbus and Boeing orders for 2015.

The intention for this thread is to keep track of the orders as they develop through the year. The desire is to keep this as a fact-based thread and to avoid speculation, rumours and especially arguments.

After record-breaking years for both manufacturers in 2014, let's see what 2015 holds. One thing's for sure - it's unlikely to be boring.

Thank you for creating this thread scbriml. I want to put a strong emphasis on avoiding arguments and Airbus vs. Boeing discussions. Part 5 and 6 of the 2014 order threads ended badly.

Lets hope for an eventful year for both OEMs.

Thanks.. Let's try to keep this limited to OEM announced sales, MOUs, cancellations, and conversions.. and encourage those that want to comment in depth (meaning more than "congrats xxx") to start a separate thread for that customers activity.

Yemenia last week converted their A350-800 order to the A350-900. This leave only Aeroflot and Asiana (8 each) left to convert.

From reuters:
TOKYO, Jan 30 (Reuters) - Japan's biggest airline, ANA Holdings 9202.T, said on Friday it had ordered 15 jetliners from Boeing Co BA.N and Airbus Group worth AIR.PA $2.2 billion to bolster flights on domestic routes.
ANA's latest aircraft order includes three 787-10 jets and five 737-800s from Boeing, and seven A321s from Airbus, the carrier said in a release.

Slow order month for Airbus with only 5 A332 from an Undisclosed customer.
A little off topic but there was also just 36 deliveries, including only 5 A330's and 1 A380.

Airbus January sales summary (short!)

30th - 5 x A330-200, Undisclosed customer.

Boeing January sales summary (even shorter!)

Boeing's page still hasn't been updated from their 2014 summary, so possibly no sales in January.

Will be interesting to see the breakdown of this order. AV is one of those few airlines with A319neos on the order book. though judging from the rendering, the A319 isnt part of the order, but that doesn't exactly mean that it isn't. (look at the azul order for instance)

Which will probably help Boeing sell the MAX, if they can offer better deliveries. There are airlines who would prefer to get the MAX sooner rather than the NEO later, even if there preference is really for the NEO.

To be fair, that's what people keep saying year after year. Avianca was supposed to order the 737 MAX because of better availability and selected the A320neo instead. Something doesn't add up: the A320neo represents some 60% of the B737-MAX/A320neo backlog while only Boeing has announced higher production rates. A320 family production levels are not representing the backlog. You'd expect A320neo sales to stall a bit yet Airbus keeps selling them at high rates. What's going on?

One of two things springs to mind: they are working behind the scenes to increase production, or Airus feels some of these 'orders' a less than solid. My vote is the first scenario.

But if you look at neo orders where the engine has been chosen the LEAP currently has 55% of those orders.
