Did anyone see this coming? Nice order for Boeing - Swiss must have confidence that the 77W will work well for the airline. So, their stable will now have 9 77Ws in it, right? Regards. -ir

Their first 777-300ER is not due until next year, but they do appear to be bullish on the model as this will indeed take them to nine frames.

Boeing a constant for the week - http://active.boeing.com/commercial/orders/index.cfm

It's been a slow year so far, save for the ALC carry-forward from the last.

Is Paris going to be it? And then, of course, the 200 x 380s in Dubai!!!

“Tim clearly wants us to do it,” Airbus’s sales chief, John Leahy, said in an interview at the annual conference of the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading in Phoenix. “He is one of the most intelligent and accomplished CEOs in the industry so we take his advice very, very seriously. But this has to be built around a business case. We can’t do it for one airline.”

Clearly Airbus wants to play down this launch for some reason.
However IMHO I think the A380NEO will be launched in Paris or Dubai.

If Airbus can cover the entire NEO update costs with the one order, there is no reason not to go with it - additional orders are the cherry on top.

So this reads more as Leahy doing what EK normally do, and negotiate through the media

We do not know what is happening, or what will happen. Some other people are in the know, not us.

However, I will point out that it makes perfect sense for the seller to be reluctant when the buyer is eager. Maybe they are negotiating what the fraction of firm orders vs. options, what the price is, whether they can get some other airlines on board, how the costs are divided, and what the exact content and aggressiveness of the update is.

Cannot wait for Paris!

It will be interesting.

RwandAir will order two A330's.

Quote:
RwandAir, the national flag carrier of the Republic of Rwanda, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus for two brand new A330s (300 and 200 series) making RwandAir a new Airbus customer and the first airline in East Africa to order the A330s.

...

The two aircraft will have 261 and 300 seats respectively and will come in a triple-class configuration with Rolls Royce Trent 772B engines and will be delivered in the second half of 2016. With this addition RwandAir’s fleet will reach ten aircraft.

Wonderful news. I was in Rwanda last week and I heard good things about the airline.

So, I guess that's the end of the 787 rumours.

Meanwhile, where will Rwandair fly them? And why a -200 and a -300?

Looks like two initial purchases approved, with more to come later. So Aribus is just selling the frames and all the rest will be done by India itself?

Hainan has some 787s coming via lease from Air Lease Corp. ALC has 15 787s on order, so if Hainan leases 6 from ALC, then that would leave 24 as direct buys.

NYC777 believes the other six might be for Oman Air.

And Airbus says it's received orders for 84 aircraft in March taking gross orders YTD to 121 and nett to 101.

Airbus March:

45 321 NEO (incl. 10 CEO to NEO conversions)
1 320 NEO (incl. 1 CEO to NEO conversion)
9 321 CEO

4 332F (Turkish)
25 339 (ALC)

Firming of a previously announced ALC order (incl. 30 321NEO LR) as the main event.
Confirming a trend that the 320 CEO line is somewhat overbooked and we are seeing more CEO to NEO conversions

Interesting that this order isn't accompanied by a cancellation since TK are taking a plane originally built for Avianca. Maybe it isn't being cancelled after all and another will be built down the line?

I always get confused with Airbus conversions from CEO to NEO. Are they oversold on CEOs now?
