When are they going to change the typography? It yells "OLD".

I know they should change the whole group (easyHotel, etc.) but it is so 2000s to me.

Seriously? Looks hideous. I agree with the previous post, they introduced a rather avantgarde corporate font a couple years ago. Wouldn't hurt them to finally transfer it to their name and aircraft titles, this livery might look a bit more modern with it. Like this it just screams 1990s.

It absolutely reeks of "meh". Missed opportunity.

There were many proposals on the earlier threads that looked far better, and I don't think changing the font/size of the logo would have hurt.

That's much worse than I expected. It just looks... wrong. At least they fixed the logo on the tail.

Might grow on me one day.

Well I suppose it's a great livery if you want to give the impression of cheap and nasty.

I seriously don't know that I have the vocabulary to describe just how hideous that aircraft is. The livery your company has is a major illustration of who you are as a brand. Is this really how easyJet want to be portrayed? I feel as though so very misled individuals have made some very misled decisions to end up with that monstrosity. Of course that is only my opinion - but I mean come on, can they not manage any better than that?

Without even reading what other posters have said so far, seeing the aircraft in that livery and from that angle, the line starting from the top of the cockpit and the one continuing from the tail look to me as two contrails.

I wasn't impressed by the rendition of the two proposed liveries we've talked about here earlier, and I'm still unsure whether I like it now, but the two contrails are the first thing I noticed.

I think that overall easyJet has a major "identity crisis" at the moment, and the ""new"" livery reflects that very well. They are not anymore the "upscale/friendly" low-cost like they were 5 years ago:

- Ryanair going upmarket and to main airports.
- Legacies going low-cost fighting in price with U2 & others.
- Norwegian which is now somehow now the "upscale" low-cost (free Wi-Fi, brand new B737s, generous hand-luggage policy).
- Regional low-cost carriers backed by legacies expanding throughout the continent (mainly Vueling, Transavia and Eurowings).

Seriously what planet are you lot on.

The only people that take an interest in what scheme the aircraft is painted in is A.netters, not the fare paying passenger.

All they are interested in is price and service once on board.

Favourite aircraft is the A350-900.

The way you paint your aircraft is part of your branding, how you are perceived and how highly people think of you.

Far better than many other new liveries, at least not shy of your name and hiding it behind the windows, and somehow unique with the triangles-

I agree on the first half of your statement, the second is limited to 5€ more they are ready to pay for service.

Unfortunately, easyJet cannot simply change font etc. The brand is licensed from easyGroup (which Stelios still owns), and so it has to be compliant with their brand guidelines.

Ultimately though, nobody unless you're a spotter cares about what it looks like. The average UK/European consumer looks for some core prerequisites when choosing airline; value for money, destinations served, frequency and how convenient the airport is to get to.

I get the impression that many A.netters aren't very accustomed to budget flying. They could paint their titles onto the aircraft in the cheapest looking Comic Sans, but if they're willing to sell me a return to southern Spain for £40, I couldn't care less about branding!

If that's the case, then why bother changing it at all? Obviously they thought the new livery is an improvement over the old one and that they would enjoy some benefits by changing it.

What everyone here is arguing is that it's hideous and just a waste of money.

Passengers will be willing to pay a premium if they "feel" that the product is better. It is all about perceptions. And the livery and visual image is a big part of it.

Tell that to Ryanair... they changed their branding (even if they still keep the same livery at the moment) and they are now attracting customers willing to pay more (business travelers, etc.)

And at the end of the day, easyJet is a publicly traded company, so an attractive image is also a way to attract more investors to the company.

Everything is connected.

You're not. I like it as well. That odd triangle shape on the forward fuselage is not something I've seen in a livery before. If the old livery was anything special, I might not like the change as much, but it was not.

When everyone has big titles, it cannot hurt to distinguish yourself with small titles. But of course, everything is a matter of taste. I think that orange stripe will make Easyjet quite recognisable, maybe more so than letters do.

But most important (for me), the fact that an all-white fuselage is getting some color is good to see

Ryanair changed their approach to customer service, not the livery/branding, at least not yet. Even with the hideous yellow interior they still manage to attract 80 million passengers. Proof if any that the color of the airplane don't matter. Granted, if they weren't so bad at customer service they might have attracted 100 million passengers but, they are changing that piece.

I'm not sure "unveiled" is the right word - in fact, the Man From Del Monte really didn't seem to want me to take that picture!!!

I suspect that the official unveiling will come in the next day or two - the aeroplane ferried from East Midlands to Gatwick this evening...

Doesn't look bad at all. At least this LCC didn't change from a good livery to an utterly terrible one (cough cough NK, WN). It just looks a little different, actually a lot cooler now.

I think visually it's weaker than the current livery. I also think it's a mistake to move away from the billboard titles. The 'easyjet.com' labels in orange on the fuselage stood out and were instantly recognisable. The use of lowercase lettering allowed it to become an instantly recognised 'shape' that could be seen and registered without actually being read. Although the typeface has been retained here (wise choice), I think the impact of the label is completely lost in the triangular shapes.
For me, they're saying 'this is the shape of easyjet now, not the word, but two triangles'.

Personally, I was in disbelief that either "Option 1" or "Option 2" would become U2's new livery.

...and at first glance of the new paint job, I didn't really like the real it.

But it's definitely growing on me. It's dynamic yet balanced, simple yet fun and most importantly, the new colors say "Hey, we're different!" It even looks a bit like the plane is wearing an orange cape.

This livery will be instantly recognizable from a distance, whereby a eurowhite fuselage would no longer be distinguishable. I say kudos to easyJet.

If I remember correctly, the font is close to "Cooper", which was VERY popular...in the 1970's.

Awkward stripes of orange doesn't make the new livery more appealing. Perhaps they could have borrowed Transavia's soon to be discarded vertical stripes?

My understanding is that EasyGroups brand rules mean that the EasyJet logo must be on a plain background, it looks like they've tried to use their current 'shards of orange' design in the new stripe, but I think it would be better on the tail fin (and upset Stelios)

Is it just me or is there a hint of red just under the window line? Or is it the angle and reflection?

Either way, it's not that bad, I like the richness of the orange against the white. The sharp angles of orange wrapped around the fuselage don't gell particularly well with the softness of the titles, pity they can't modernise that area.

I'm quite glad they did not put the registration above the rear cabin door as per the rendering we saw a while back. That just look odd! so it's not the best but certainly better than I thought!
