Quoting airtrantpa (Thread starter): I believe AM served tpa before |
Quoting maxpower1954 (Reply 1): Circa 1973 - Pan Am 707 service between Tampa and Merida four times a week. Dropped by 1979. |
Quoting aacun (Reply 2): Esstern served TPA-MEX with widebodies at one point |

Quoting EddieDude (Reply 5): I am not sure if MX at some point flew to TPA with 727s |
Quoting airtrantpa (Reply 9): So let me ask this, with the hispanic population In west central Florida, would a year round service to say mex, be feasable. Surely the route could work on a E175 or 190. What would it take to maybe lure AM here, or volaris or Interjet? |
Quoting MIflyer12 (Reply 4): In effect, the OP is asking if there will ever be service to a 3rd-tier, non-hub U.S. airport from some Mexico destination. Sure - why not? F9 has CUN-STL in the schedule for tomorrow, along with CUN-CVG. DL has CUN-MKE, CUN-BDL, CUN-CMH. Tampa residents may lack desperation to escape winter, however. (CUN and MEX are the top MX origins to the U.S.) |
Quoting EWRandMDW (Reply 10): Isn't the Hispanic pop'n in the area primarily of Cuban descent? I'm sure flights to HAV and other cities on that island would be the more popular. |
