Medical emergency. Showing scheduled to depart SFO at 1245.

Correct. Medical, and ate up most of 28L with an overweight landing. It got everyones attention rolling past T3 in full T/R. Parked at AA T-2 gates.

yes, and I love how their FLIFO shows "pax service" as the reason...also note...the flight will not be leaving SFO
until tomorrow morning! I presume because they have to do a serious maint. check due to that overweight
landing:

AA codes medical diversions under passenger service. Flt 135 LHR-LAX diverted also to ORD for a medical issue and also shows up in FLIFO as pax service.

That and crew issues, although it's currently posted as a maintenance delay in DECS.

Gotta feel bad for AA on this one. Talk about expensive, for something they have no control over. Presumably they thought they could immediately continue on, otherwise a return to LAX probably would have made more sense?

Hopefully the passenger recovers.
You know the gear is up and locked when it takes full throttle to taxi to the terminal.

Flew this same flight last May and 20 min after departure a pax 2 rows behind me had bad seizures. Initial plan was divert to SFO but changed quickly to go back to LAX. Expedited approach and we were on the ground 20 min after that. LAFD paramedics came on quick and removed the pax who was a bit more stack l stable. Took an hour 25 to wait on MX to verify brakes cooled enough to leave again.

Got in to PVG 3 hr late. Enough time still to make a connect to Shenzhen - or so I thought. Flight canceled. Can't blame AA for that.

This is just one of those cost of doing business things. If you have a big enough airline I'd imagine you can estimate the yearly costs of medical diversions very closely.

DECS is a partition of SABRE which handles most of the operational issues (flight plans, weather, weight and balance, ACARs messages, detailed flight information, delays etc).
RES is the partition which handles the passenger service, reservations and training side, amongst other things
