Qatar Airways Plan Four New Destinations

They are planning on starting flights to Zanzibar, as well as three new routes in Pakistan i.e Sialkot, Multan and Faisalabad all with A320 from July/August at different dates.

Sialkot currently gets their freighters only and QR cargo were the first foreign carrier to fly there as DOH-SKT with A306F, it recently got linked to Ekaterinburg as DOH–SVX–SKT–DOH 1 x A330F.

DAR is 2 daily A320 and it's 35 NM south of ZNZ, so range is not a problem, maybe the flight will be combine with DAR or JRO, actually only Middle East flight in ZNZ-NBO-ZNZ is Oman Air, and the plane is quite full always, MCT-ZNZ-DAR-MCT.

Long ago I heard rumors that QR wanted to do DOH-MBA-ZNZ-MBA-DOH, but I think Kenya government didn't allow the flight same with DOH-NBO-JRO-NBO-DOH. Actually NBO is 3 daily and DAR 2 daily.

And last time I went to HAH I was told by a friend that Comoros government was trying to attract service to middle east, but I think they were talking basically with Yemenia, but I know many pax go with QR and EZE via DAR, so maybe they can try to get something with QR in the future as well.

it's not an impediment but going alone on routes like MIA or PHL and AA is easier than going against the other two ME3, but they will have too, sooner or later, maybe with A350

I'm surprised that Qatar Airways does not fly to Canada. Both Emirates and Etihad fly here, but I don't see Qatar on that list.

QR flies 3 times weekly to YUL. No more flights possible due to bilaterals.

Just noticed there are no international services from this third largest city in Pakistan, and flights only to Karachi and lLhore . they had Dubai and return leg from Glasgow in the past by PIA, currently Shaheen do hajj flights to Jeddah.

Sorry it is late here, bilaterals was maybe not the right word.
QR cannot operate any more passenger flights to Canada.

If you want the exact terms and conditions, i am sure you can search this site. It was covered extensively.

I agree. I also give the edge to QR starting LAX before EK starting MIA. The QR A350 would be ideal to launch the LAX route and being the new plane that it is that would slightly help marketing wise. If / when EK start MIA the most likely thing they will do is just launch it with a 777 as per the EK new route launching SOP handbook

Given the recent exchange of declarations, I'd not be surprise if EK fast track ATL just do some noise and go vs DL.

DFW would be good for QR B787, they'll be the first ME3 there and market to middle east is good, but actually they can't fly them in missions over 8-9 hours (crew rest).

They fly the A320 to NBO and DAR which is practically the same distance especially to DAR.

Given that QR's 14x weekly bilateral to Australia is already maxed out, unless it is renegotiated, matching EK's double daily flights to MEL is not even an option so upgauging is QR's only current option if it wants to increase capacity to MEL.

The 14x weekly bilateral is not much at all IMHO and I have no doubt that QR would at least be operating twice that ammount of weekly flights into Australia right now if they were allowed.

I too am puzzled by the holdup.

Perhaps QR intend to launch LAX with the A350 so they could be just waiting for a few more A350s to enter the fleet or until the A350 proves itself?

I too think the A350 would be ideal for QR to send to LAX.

From a marketing point of view, if you aren't going to send the world's biggest plane (like how EK market their A380), why not send the world's newest plane - which is the A350

It will happen, but given the number of seats already in the market and the huge competence I'm not sure if QR will be that profitable in the route, I think they can do other markets work easily before LAX.

You are correct. Only 1 daily non-stop, but 2 via SE Asia (SIN and KUL).

At one time QR was considering service to BOS from DOH. I am wondering is BOS still under consideration? If so, would flight time simular to PHL work early morning arrival and departure from BOS?
