ANA Contemplating Stake In Bankrupt Skymark

Mon Feb 23, 2015 12:58 pm

ANA said it was contemplating an investment in Skymark. No more details were dropped at this stage.

And no, before anyone comes up with that wild fantasy, that does not mean that ANA would take Skymark's A380s.

How do you know that??    maybe Air Asia wants them.

According to the article few companies are interested, not only ANA, Air Asia also, and few more business groups. 29th May last day for "offers".

What's happened to Skymark's A330's ? Are they parked up at HND, incurring hefty parking fees, or have they been flown out and stored elsewhere ?

I can't speak to where they are now, but there is a photo in the A.Net database from Feb 11th that appears to show one of them parked at HND with blocks and engine covers. Maybe just waiting a return to lessor or something?

AirAsia too is talking with Skymark.

Quote:
Meanwhile, the proposal submitted by the Malaysia-based pan-Asian LCC group reportedly does not include a prospective shareholding (Is AirAsia considering a Skymark takeover?). AirAsia's plans call for setting up a joint-venture with Skymark to operate their now grounded Airbus A330s (Skymark Airbus A330 operates last revenue flight.) on medium-to-long-range international routes, after reconfiguring them in a high-density layout. It would also mediate negotiations with the European planemaker for the A380 cancellation penalty (Skymark hopes to settle Airbus A380 penalty in October.), taking advantage of AirAsia's status as the biggest A330 and A320 customer.

Five A330's are stored at HND and one A330 is in storage at TLS.
