Newest Aircraft Involved In Hull-loss Incidents?

Ever since there was that picture of that one A340 (I think EY?) that rammed in to something and got wrecked shortly before delivery (though it may have been fixed, I don't recall), I'm curious if there are hull-loss incidents involving quite new aircraft that come especially to mind.

Let's let "new aircraft" be subjective, say... One of the youngest in the involved airlines (or airline-destined) fleet, or under 2 years old.

A few that come to mind:

PK-LKS (Lion Air 737-800)- delivered February 21st, 2013, crashed April 13th at DPS
YU-ANA (Inex-Adria MD-81)- delivered August 11th, 1981, crashed December 1st near Ajaccio
YA-FAR (Ariana Afghan 727-100) delivered February 1968, crashed January 5th, 1969 near LGW

I think Braniff also lost a 707-227 on a pre-delivery test flight in 1959.

This Lion Air accident comes to mind: the 737 was in service for less than 6 weeks!

AFAIK the EY A340, was not delivered, and was never fixed, the damage was too extensive.

So basically it was a new aircraft, destroyed.

Eastern L1011 that crashed in the everglades was very new almost 4 months old....

The CI 744 which went in to the water off Kai Tak was delivered in June '93 and w/o in November of the same year, fortunately with no fatalities.

Also, in 1953 CP lost a DH Comet in Pakistan during its delivery flight to Canada ( going the long way around) . I don't believe the flight was a scheduled service, but apparently there were some pax on board ( presumably airline staff)

The Air France A320 had crashed near Habsheim, during an air show, was lost only 2-3 days after delivery to the airline.

Also, Delta lost a Convair 880 in a training accident in May 1960, only a short time after the aircraft was delivered.

The Transasia ATR72 involved in the accident shortly after departure from Taipei was pretty new, too.

In the mid 90s CO lost a 735 (Ship 643) in GDL that was less than a year old.

Bit off Topic, but the tail off that EY 346 TLS incident was actually used to repair the EK A345 that tailsdcrapped in SYD after entering the wrong weight for T/O.

What about the SSJ that crashes in Indonesia and the one belly landing in KEF?? That's two of them even before delivering any.

Lao ATR was 6 month old when it crashes into MeKong river.
Transasia Atr 72-600 was 8-9 months old only.

Today TK crash in KTM is pretty new also. May 2014 delivery. TK-JOC.

First delivery was April 2011. The Indonesia crash was May 2012, the belly landing was mid-2013.

Douglas lost a DC7 destined for National Airlines during production flight test back around 1957. Was involved in a mid air with a F89 over the San Bernadino mountains in southern California. Boeing / Pan Am 747 at the Renton airport prior to delivery to Pan Am. It was repaired and returned to service.

Actually the Boeing Rail accident resulted in 6 fuselages being scrapped, but I understand they are not being counted as hull losses. Surely one of the stranger aviation events.

Air France burned up a brand new A340-200, F-GNIA, in a maintenance accident in 1994, plane was less than a year old... belonged to SABENA, leased to Air France.

Not mentioned so far was the American L188 Electra at La Guardia in 3 febr 1959 killing 65. It was the first delivered Electra N6101A and was just delivered two weeks before. The whole type was just in service for a few weeks. It was a pilot error descending too low and too soon, but with about 4 crashes in the next two year including the structural wing failures it was a bad start.

A continental DC-7B was lost on a pre-delivery flight after a collision with a F-89.An Eastern DC-7B was also lost on a pre-delivery flight.United lost a DC-8 in a landing accident at Denver in 1961.that aircraft was about a month old.

I believe West Coast Airlines lost one of its first DC 9-10's after less than a week of service back in the mid 60's. Crashed into the woods near Mt. Hood, outside of PDX. I'm pretty sure it was also the first crash involving a DC 9

The TK DC10 that flew TK981 (cargo door came off over France killing all 346 people on board) was delivered in December 1972 (first flight in February 1972) and crashed in March 1974. Yesterday was the anniversary of the crash, actually. Barely more than 2 years old and in service for much less.

AC lost a DC-8-63 on July 5, 1970 at YYZ, with the loss of all those on board.
The aircraft was 66 days old with about 400 hours.

The Eastern DC-7B that was lost on a pre-delivery flight was N846D in March 1968.I have never been able to find details of the crash.The West Coast DC-9,N9101,was only two weeks old.

A Convair CV-440 crashes during a delivery flight from San Diego, California to Zurich via New York, Gander and Shannon. On approach to Shannon, the pilots execute an abnormally steep turn, causing the aircraft to stall and drop to the ground. Four crew members lost.

At that point in time, they were still plane parts ... not actual planes.

There was another thread recently where the line numbers lost have had new/replacement hulls delivered and have been slotted into production (or perhaps even already finished, considering how fast they build 737s these days) ...

The Canadian Pacific Comet that crashed in Pakistan on it's delivery flight was going to be based in Sydney (hence the routing) — the early Comets didn't have the range for HNL-YVR so the Comets were going to be based in Sydney and fly up to HNL with a few stops (Fiji / Canton Is / etc) and pax would transfer at HNL to a Britannia. When the first Comet crashed in Karachi CPAir lost their nerve and the project was cancelled.

The UAL DC-8 that crashed into a populated area in Brooklyn after a mid-air with a TWA Connie in Dec 1960 must have been brand new. Anyone know?

March 9, 1967. TWA DC-9-15 (not a -14 as the pic caption says) less than 2 months old, midair collision while approaching landing at Dayton OH. I was a student at Ohio State when this happened.

Here is a pic of that very aircraft leaving PIT. Less than an hour after this pic was taken the collision occurred, destroying this aircraft and killing all on board.

The UA DC-8 that crashed in New York after the mid air with the TWA Connie was a year old.I mentioned that the Eastern DC-7B,N846D,crashed in March 1968.I meant March 1958.
