Hmmm...I hope OAK gets direct service to ORY. During the mid 1980's, there was a very brief charter on the OAK-Green
Bay (?)- ORY on a Rich DC-8.

Interesting for me since ORY is my home airport. ORY does have long haul connections unlike what the airline is saying, I guess he means some routes are hampered by the curfew, except that it isn't going away anytime soon !

How many 787s will DU get this year? Which Airline will fly from ORY and BCN, the Norwegian or Irish part?

Don't you mean their sixth longhaul base? OSL,ARN, CPH,LGW, ORY and then BCN.

They're sure getting ambitious with so few aircraft, and so many delays and timing troubles as it is...

Wow! Great News! ORY is also my home airport.

ORY-JFK would certainly come as a blow to Openskies and La Compagnie (even though the latter leaves from CDG), seeing as DY's premium economy is somewhat on par with their product, and also a lot cheaper!

Good news!

I wish they flew to FLL or MIA, would be nice to experience a 787 at a good price instead of the regular AA or UA 767 from CDG. If some competition can influence AA to replace the 25 years old 767 too....

Just one thing: they need to put their act together about the thai crews, irish contracts and/or licence etc....because French courts won't accept any dodging especially if they are spurred by AF

Very interesting.

Also, hasn't AF stopped MCO? That could make a very logical comeback with Norwegian. Isnt there traffic between Orlando and Paris bc of Disney?

AF did stop MCO, it was not a money maker even with the 77W heavy in Y seats

I am not sure MCO is that popular with the French as we have Disneyland right here in Paris.

MIA has become really popular....I flew to MIA on AF A380 last month and it was dreadfully packed with families...

Well also dont forget that Miami-FLL-PBI is home to about 5 million people, many with European background (many French live there) and Paris is (or claims) to be the most visited city on earth.

Also ORY-FLL will provide another a new airport pair link that might be more attractive to some people heading to Palm Beach or FLL and avoid MIA immigration queues. orly should also be smoother experience than CDG and closer to some parts of Paris.

Only one Boeing 787-8 for 2015.

Then they will get 9 Boeing 787-9 series between 2016-2018

Not much delays now ... I think that has been largely sorted out.

The problem with doing east coast and west coast US flights from the same base with a small fleet is the JFK arrivals of 8pm are too late for many and uncompetitive, some existing bases just need more aircraft to improve.

Provided that the planes keep working flawlessly and no tech issues come up to throw everything right back off balance.

I really think that if they want to expand their first priority should be getting most of the craft they've ordered, and ordering further craft as well. I want to see them succeed and prosper especially with ORY and BCN, I really do, but I think that they should get their fleet size in order so they can do so, as well as get frequencies higher on existing destinations where it's only 1 or 2 weekly currently.

I don't think Norwegian is prepared to order adittional Boeing 787's other than they already have on order, until the issue With the US DOT is resolved.

It's not a surprise, Miami is a great city with awesome weather during all the year, it's the perfect place to take a winter break.

As a London based tourist, arriving at 8pm JFK is too late, you'd be in your hotel after 9pm with a lot of the day gone. It's better to pay more and get better timings. If their timings to JFK and FLL from LGW were better and they had Economy comfort/plus seating, I'd be using them.

Both British Airways and Virgin also have late arrivals around 7-8 PM.

and as lesfalls says, Norwegian has Premium economy

How will Norwegian get round the French insistence that crews based in France have to pay tax there and their employers have to pay contributions to the social funds? It doesn't seem the Norwegian long haul way of working, yet every airline that has tried to avoid this has been defeated in court.

BA and VS both have flights to JFK/EWR 2200-2300. I wouldn't mind arriving in one of these or ideally 2000 as you could work, fly, sleep, recover, then fit for the next day.

I said Economy comfort/plus seating which is what AA/UA offer, which is an economy seat with more legroom.

Yes I'm aware DY offer a wider seat with 46" pitch which exceeds standard Premium Economy seat pitch at 38", so it's a bit of a Premium Economy + product.

I've arrived on flights at 11.30am, 2pm and 11pm in the past. 2pm suits me best as a tourist.

Not a money maker because it was not the right plane to send to MCO. All others airlines from Europe send A/C with high yield configuration at MCO. (LH, BA, VS)

Quoting VARIG MD-11 (Reply 9):
I am not sure MCO is that popular with the French as we have Disneyland right here in Paris.

That's the problem here. We see Orlando as Disney. But there is so much more there. Orlando is the second biggest conference center in the states (after Vegas).
