Do we think the change in the 10 77A's to domestic will later reconfigure the 9 already doing HI? Seems like our master chart just got more complicated after all of today's announcements.

I hope the domestic 777s – all 19 of 'em – get a cabin treatment similar to the signature cabin on the CR7s/E75s/Airbii/737s for a consistent experience. And 'cuz the 9 domestic 777s today are kind of tired.

Plus it would give UA a lot of flexibility if they had 19 (instead of 9+10 with different configurations) so they can all cycle through GUM, HNL and North American routes. This is also going to eliminate one difference in Intl configurations.

RE: United Fleet Upgrade Status - Part 24

Sun Apr 26, 2015 5:15 pm

739ER New delivery:
N68880 sked to enter SEA Induction 2188/27Apr (note, aircraft number first to skip to 880 from 849 due to 753 fleet)

753:
N77867 still doesn't show power after MIA mod. UA.com has been slow to show power for 744 fleet as well.

764:
N76062 exited LCQ 2167/25Apr with Intl WiFi
N76065 entered LCQ 2167/25Apr for WiFi

NOTE:
We are getting very close to WiFi completion on 739s and 738s
Last 739 in mod is N38458, which should exit INT soon, completing 739 WiFi program (except new deliveries)
5 738s are now in WiFi mod. There are only 2 non mid lavs flying (3207/3222). After these are completed, I wonder if UA will place more mid lav units into mod - there are 5 still flying revenue. If they do, UA could have all mid lavs converted or in mod very soon.
The 73Gs should be next, but maybe UA is waiting on Copa additions to allow for mod lines to start.

401 looks like it will go in for Scimitar and the STC, around Aug 2015.

The next scheduled Scimitar looks to be

405---Aug 2016

And the rest of the 737-900s look to be getting them after that. Unless something changes or it is decided to do Scimitars with other checks.

On another note, # 751, acquisition from COPA, is in MIA for induction.

Will the ex-COPA 73G due to come out of Miami next week have the old CO seats or new slimlines?

Hearing that there is no benefit as there aren't enough rows to save enough room to install another row. But that could change for Fleet commonality.

I guess if you can't get an extra row in, there is not reason to swap them out other than weight savings which must not be financially beneficial I guess. So, these units will remain cloth and the rest of the 737's and all Airbii will be the new UA blue leather? Seems odd.

I guess all 16 789 frames will be fully delivered in Q1 2016. Sad there is only 16. From HKCANADAEXPAT in the other thread:

UA's 789 delivery schedule vs EIS currently looks something like this:

#6 (N38955) - end of May delivery (will allow SFO-CTU to go daily on June 4th + HNL-NRT to go daily starting July 2nd)
#7 (N45956) - end of July delivery (will allow IAH-GIG to go daily on August 18th with HNL-NRT daily cancelled)
#8 (N27957) - end of August delivery (will allow IAH-FRA to go daily on September 24th)
#9 (N27958) - end of September delivery
#10 (N27959) - early October delivery (together will allow IAH-EZE to go daily on October 25th)
#11 (N26960) - end of November delivery (will allow IAH-AMS to go daily on December 17th)
#12 (N29961) - early December delivery
#13 (N36962) - mid December delivery (together will allow IAH-SCL to go daily on January 5th)
#14 (N17963) - end of February delivery (will allow IAH-NRT to go daily on March 3rd)

Frames for routes have not yet been announced...

#15 (N27964) - March 2016 delivery
#16 (N27965) - March 2016 deliver

They might get done after the other Fleets get done, then again, there will be a lot of extra parts floating around in the old cloth checkerboard style. It would be odd and not great for seat maintenance to have another type of seat going around the system.

Yeah, it could change. Depends on how they like the -9 and -10s in service. Thought it was 26 789s on order with 27 787-10s, the changes keep changing

Think 2018 is the start of the schedule, A-350s are scheduled for late that year also, Oct 2018.

Then 778-10 and A359 in 2018. Exciting times at UA for us widebody fliers.

The only real limiting factor with Nxx123 is getting software to ignore the xx and sequence from the 123. Or someone could do it the old fashioned way.. Create you lists manually.

This Question was asked on the UA to Aquire used 319 s thread, but the knowledgeable folks here may have the answer. Any idea on the possible registration numbers for the 10-25 leased 319s joining the fleet? Will they continue on the current 319 registration sequence with N856UA and onward? Or will they be assigned a fully numerical N registration sCO style? I understand the reason for the numerical registration, but I have always like the NxxxUA registrations.

It would make sense for it to be NxxxUA purely for conformity, but I have a sneaking suspicion it will take the former CO-style registration. All new aircraft that have come into the fleet (including the B739ERs bound for sUA/LUA or whatever you'd like to call it) since the merger have taken the numerical scheme. I would personally love to see all aircraft be NxxxUA, but it would be hard to do with such a large fleet -- I think that's why new aircraft take the numerical scheme simply to make things easier.

The reason the new 737s have followed in the numerical scheme is because they have all been part of a pre existing CO order. The UA airplanes were diverted. Not sure what tails will be from the UA order. Further, it made sense to continue the numerical scheme on those airplanes. In the same way, it will make sense for the Airbii to continue the NxxxUA scheme. I've no idea what the 777-300s will do.

On a somewhat related topic, United's SVP-flight operations Howard Attarian was quoted by AvWeek today discussing the deteriorating economics of 3-class cabins on longhaul aircraft.

Among other things, he said that United gets higher RASM on 2-class international aircraft than 3-class international aircraft, and that, as many have speculated and discussed for a long time, "fewer than 10% of United’s first-class customers actually pay for the product," and that "any given first-class cabin consists mostly of upgrades, federal air marshals and employees flying for free."

As such, he concludes - unsurprisingly - that in most cases this business mix is, "not worth the money we invest in a first class cabin on our aircraft," particularly given the growing prevalence on competitors' jets of upgraded, all-direct-aisle-access, business class products.

Not entirely accurate. The Nxx8xx aircraft are crewed by UA flight attendants, and were ordered after the merger as replacement for the UA 757 fleet.

These aircraft are identical to the 900ER's that were ordered by CO pre merger
