I didn't notice this before, but there is actually a B6 billboard advertising FLL as "a much more easier option" than MIA near the hotel on the perimeter access on ramp.

Vienna seems to be a low-yielding destination to about everywhere it seems. Is OS's route decision controlled by LH?

Still got my fingers crossed for TK. Hoping that they do make it over here. If they do come I hope they will not use Concourse F, because that place is a dump. I just flew out of there with VS 2 days ago and was very disappointed with the look and feel of that concourse. I hope OS wont be sent there either.

The billboard visible from SR 112 east has been there for at least 6 years. It's a billboard that Broward County uses to promote new service to/from FLL.

I don't see any makeover being done. When is the remodeling of the central terminal going to begin? I heard that AF might send its 380 to MIA year-round, if so is gate H10 being remodeled for 380 use?

You even asked the Turkish Consulate. Enough is enough. Either you believe it or not

Hi all,

I am going to be taking AA #167 from MIA to SFO tomorrow and unfortunately the aircraft type has been switched from the
usual 763 to a 738. Nothing against the 738 but I prefer to fly on a wide body on this route. Is this a seasonal switch or more of a permanent one?

Honestly, its best to take these things with a grain of salt and not worry about it. I think this thread needs a little break from TK related speculation. If they want to come, they will. If they don't, then they won't. There's nothing we (or anyone on a.net) can do about it.

Now if anyone wants to start speculating when AA will send the 787 to Miami, I'm down.

Neither, probably just an equipment swap. Most, but not all, domestic widebody segments are repositioning legs between hubs to prepare an airplane to fly abroad.

Actually the switch from the 763 to 738 for AA167 is in the timetable. Not sure if it season or permanent, but I'm guessing the former.

Above Flt Eff. JUN 4
7:25 AM 10:37 AM 2 AA167 763 0 6h 12m
Above Flt Disc. MAY 5
7:25 AM 10:39 AM 3 AA167 738 0 6h 14m
Above Flt Ops MAY 6 Only
7:35 AM 10:47 AM AA167 738 0 6h 12m

I'm still amazed that AA has a 763 on the 30-minute MIA-MCO-MIA flight. I'm planning a trip to Disney World this summer for a surprise present for my girlfriend's birthday (she's a huge Disney fan) and the 763 flight with the angle-flat-bed seats is my first choice. I've also worked out something with Hertz where I can rent a car for us if I pay a few extra fees, so we'll see how that works out.

I'm sure it will come soon. I don't really follow the rumors too much, but I wasn't expecting the ORD-NRT announcement and AA took me by surprise when they announced it. At least, up till this point, AA has sent the 77W and I believe the retrofitted 777 to Miami, unlike Chicago. But I'm hoping with the starting of ORD-NRT, they are trying to spread the 787 around the network. So far AA has 4 planes and 2 more are coming soon. And they've announced DFW-EZE, DFW-PVG, and ORD-NRT. So is it safe to assume that they won't be announcing anymore 787 routes until at least they get their 7th plane?

Is there enough room for KLM, Emirates, Etihad, SAS, Air Madrid, etc,.....?

There is no shortage of gates. The only shortage is gates in prime Concourses.

Also Air Madrid is long gone

Usually in hubbed airports, the hub airline and the flag carriers of foreign countries (especially the ones who are alliance partners with the hub airline) are given the best gates, and the rest of the carriers get the leftovers.

So in Miami, most of American Airlines' operation is in D (a few in E with the US merger), which is one of the nicest concourses in MIA, and the big international airlines get Concourse J, which is pretty much the pride of MIA.

MIA is adding gates for the A380.

Quote:
The plan is to renovate the end of Concourse H for the giant planes. The first phase of renovation of that concourse was completed in 1998, seven years before the first flight of any A380 and nine years before a single A380 was placed into service.

Gates H15 and H17 are to be modified so that Airbus A380 planes can use them. Gate H15 is also to get a new high passenger loading bridge to allow international passengers to reach the upper deck of the A380s.

Summer's closing in - a few diversions into FLL and PBI this evening due to a thunderstorm over MIA. Noticed a couple of AA 757s heading into FLL but nothing more exotic than that. Flightaware shows a LAN 767 from BOG as going to FLL but I believe it went to MIA.

I thought PBI didn't have an "old terminal", the terminal built in 1960 is the current one (albeit heavily modified and renovated in the 55 years since then). Before the terminal was built in 1960, the passenger area was simply a boarding ramp and a cyclone fence with a small shack-like-thing for selling tickets. I also believe there were some airline ticketing offices in downtown Palm Beach but they have since been closed (with the advent of personal ticketing, ticket offices were made largely obsolete).

Actually, there is still an AA ticketing office which is still open as I write this off of Oakland Park Boulevard down the street from Coral Ridge Mall. I'll post some pictures of it later.

Actually, there is still an AA ticketing office which is still open as I write this off of Oakland Park Boulevard down the street from Coral Ridge Mall. I'll post some pictures of it later.

There is a ticketing office in Little Haiti too for AA, IBC and Spirit. It's for the PAP flights.

I thought PBI didn't have an "old terminal", the terminal built in 1960 is the current one (albeit heavily modified and renovated in the 55 years since then).

Nope....and I can tell you that with my own eyes and experiences. The old terminal opened in 1966 and closed when the current terminal opened in 1988. The DL terminal opened in 1974

Doesn't AA still have a ticketing office on Ponce Blvd (close to SW 8 St) in Coral Gables?
