CZ Launches New Freighter Services To Europe

Sun May 03, 2015 9:08 am

China Southern has announced two new full Freighter services from China to London and Paris.

- CAN - LON 3x/week B777F
- CAN - CDG 3x/week B777F

These routes are in addition to the established CZ freighter routes to AMS, FRA and VIE.

Is the market keeping up with the Chinese airlines continuous expansion (HU, CZ, MF, CA) of both PAX and CARGO flights or are we to see over capacity and greater hurt for the legacy carriers?

Are they going to copy KE Cargo and go Asia-London-Paris-Asia?

If they have a full payload westbound, a non stop is out of the question. Max range at max payload is about 9000 km. Those two sectors are almost 10,000 km if you factor in ATC routings and headwinds.
us Air Traffic Controllers have a good record, we haven't left one up there yet !!

I am still trying to figure out why that matters. So an airline will not fly a route because they cannot max out their payload?

I wonder, with the rather weak market ex CN to EU if that's really viable, even flights are much better utilized ex EU to CN rates are still not that high to balance the imbalance...where are the aircrafts coming from ? New ones or from other markets ?

CZ gets its remaining 3 77Fs this year if I'm not mistaken.

No one said that. He asked a question and i simply answered it.

The non stop is doable only if they leave behind around 20,000-25,000 lb of payload. Depending on the price of what they leave behind, it might be cost effective to fly non stop to STN or CDG, just like it might be better to pick up those 20,000 lb of cargo and make a fuel stop half way.

It all depends.

CZ operates:

- CAN-AMS
- CAN-FRA
- PVG-AMS
- PVG-FRA
- VIE-PVG

and vica versa non-stop with B777F every day.

No one said they can't. I simply said they can't operate it at max payload on the westbound legs.

BTW, CAN-CDG or CAN-STN are 200-400 nm longer than all the routes you mentioned.
