It looks like WS will continue to expand its codeshare with Delta, though this time it is expanding its codeshare out of SEA. I didn't realize how many flights WS codeshares with DL throughout the states. Here is a link for the newer ones that are mainly to Alaska:

Because they don't fly to Seattle. You answered your own question; codesharing allows them to enter a market without having to commit aircraft to those routes.

I think what BoeingGuy is trying to say is that typically a codeshare is an extenstion of a destination served, so it seems random that WestJet would codeshare from a destination it doesn't serve.

They also have an ever expanding inline agreement with DL. Speculation continues about them aligning eventually with SkyTeam or OneWorld.

Looks like the confusion is because the sectors listed in the opening post aren't all the sectors where WS is codesharing with DL (and their regional partners) since YYC-SEA and YVR-SEA have already been mentioned as having WS-coded flights.
It would make no sense for WS to codeshare with DL from SEA if the codeshare sectors didn't include any that connect with WS-operated flights.

Not really. If you read recent interviews with Sartkesy, he talks about how valuable it is to WestJet to not play favorites or allign WestJet with a specific alliance.
Ironic since it was Alaska announcing an enhanced deal with AA (shortly after DL announced further SEA international in conjunction with AS), that launched the DL effort we see now.
