Alitalia: New Livery And Uniforms On 6 June

Thu May 07, 2015 5:17 pm

Alitalia will unveil its new livery, branding and uniforms on June 4th. The press release states that Alitalia's Italian identity will be preserved on the new livery, especially on the tail. While it looks like the signature "A" will not be preserved, the livery will boldly express modern Italian elegance. The design houses that have created the finalists for the new uniforms are: la Marangoni of Milano and l’Accademia Costume & Moda of Roma.

Alitalia: New Livery And Uniforms On 6 June

I can't wait to see it. AZ has had years of unprofabiliy, and turn around plans. This signifies t a completely new Alitalia. The old livery was nice, but had no connection to success. I believe for employees this is a good wake up call, this is the new Alitalia, get on the bus, start the journey with us- or look for s new employer. Don't underestimate the subconscious impact new uniforms and livery can have on employees and management. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for an energised and fresh AZ

Can't beat the original livery as reflected on the 747-100. Love that as an all time favorite.

Can´t wait to see the new livery and uniforms, I trust the Italians to come up with something nice and not some Il-cheapo euro-boring-white MS paint doddle.

And hopefully for AZ this will be a change for the better.

I should catch a flight on the Old AZ then... I haven´t actually flown AZ before.

Fingers crossed they have hired an Italian. Italians tend to be good with design and many of their brands and especially industrial design is damn sexy. Has an immediate appeal. Fingers crossed.
I cant say present livery is great, its good and recognisable without being amazing. However changing brands and livery isnt smart, its a sign that management focuses on the wrong things and have spent to much time at pointless MBA courses. A brand is an identity, changing means you start from scratch and that you should only do if you have severely mistreated your brand and need to hide it from an angry public. few companies ever reach that stage.
Its scary that so many think that a re-freshener means improvement. We dont see Merc, BMW etc change their brands, one reason they stay on top of their game.

The worst nightmare would be if they hired the same people that destroyed Etihads rather classy previous livery and introduced the present diarrhea. You never know when Etihad is paying for things. Fingers crossed though would be sad to see another company have it corporate profile massacred by a design bureau out of touch with class.

Am I the only who thinks that Alitalia will utilize Etihad's livery and adapt it to green-and red (Italian colors)?

I totally agree. I was working for a handling company in a recent past that did a major turnover, new identity, new uniform. It was much needed. Still, it hasn't changed all aspects of the job.

I hope for the AZ staff that the new management will give them all key needed to turn this company over.

It's a shame that AZ has waited so long to realize there are of the most magnificent country in Europe in term of style, culture and design. Something should have been done a long time ago.

Well, enough said, I cannot wait to see their brand new 777 or maybe 787 380 wearing a new livery with magnificent interior and gorgeous staff!

Long live AZ!

Alitalia is a bit like Alfa Romeo. Dear and cherished by the fans but growing in irrelevance and always on the brink of a "turnaround" but eventually failing.

Case in point the Alfa 4C competizione.

Agreed. I hope they dont ruin the current livery either too much. Hopefuly it will be a positive enhancement but rarely do they happen these days. We shall have to wait and see.

Supposedly the "A" on the tail is gone, but is being replaced by a very stylized Italian flag. We shall see soon. I believe a 330 is going to be repainted in the new livery for the unveiling.

Why not an Etihad livery shape with red, white and green?

Why is it that whenever a new livery is announced for a major carrier I am filled with dread?

Hope it looks nothing like Etihad, which I think looks like smashed glass on a derelict warehouse.

Why the obsession with spelling the date the American way? Looks like the 6th April to me.

It's true that both have a little bit in common: The majority-parents of Alitalia and Alfa (Etihad and Fiat Chrysler) are both investing billions to make them compete globally.

I'll be interested to see how Alitalia rebrands. I'd like to see a modified version of the EY livery with a white fuselage and a red/white/green polygonal tail and the current logo, but something unique - and uniquely Italian - would also be great.

Agree completely! How many meaningless splotches on a tail do we have now? Avianca, Iberia, Asiana?

Following the link to the most relevant and well informed aviation forum in Italy, Aviazionecivile.it, you find this anticipation that has been rumored to be really close to the one that will be presented on June 4th.

Can't wait to see it but at the same time it's a little bit sad because the current logo and livery of Alitalia is such a great and historic image in aviation World and it has a lot of personality as all the Italians do.

It will be hard to be better than the current one, but I hope it will be.

Alitalia: New Livery And Uniforms On 6 June

I'm cautiously excited for this. I think the logo and livery have aged well, but AZ could have possibly sufficed with an update of all the supporting brand elements. The way I feel about the current AZ livery is the same way I feel about LH— throwback to the 60s elegance and internationalism. I don't think they needed to do much, but considering the poor state of the airline, I understand the need to make changes...
