Looks like E175s are starting to take over a larger chunk of RJ flights...all of these should be new routes for the E175. Glad to see this as they are a great ride up front with power ports, WiFi and I think a few even have streaming video at this point.

LNK's metro is 302,000 and FSD's 243,000 so they are not too far apart (numbers from Wikipedia). The biggest factor in LNK's service is OMA which is 50 some miles away with mainline service from pretty much all the legacies, Southwest, Frontier and Allegiant. FSD has no real competition and is fairly isolated. If LNK was more isolated or further away from OMA then its airport would be busier IMHO.

I flew DEN-CVG in a CR7 in Y last Saturday. It really wasn't all that bad at all. I really love the Y seats on the ER4s though the best.

Also not mentioned was IAH-PBI (West Palm Beach, Florida) is now E175 instead of E145.

Yay for my hometown airport, BNA! First mainline service, now E175 upgauges?! Wish this had happened a couple of years ago and before I gave up on UA and now have status on AA, but good for non-revving!

IAH can definitely absorb the capacity but I'm a little surprised at IAD. Maybe they have enough premium pax connecting internationally that they need a better product on the domestic connection? Would have rather had them on BNA-EWR, but I guess UA's route planners know best.

Wow! I never realized IAH to MIA was one of the lighter routes. I figured it like to MCO would be a popular destination (though MIA is strong AA territory).

It wasn t all that long ago that Shuttle America E170/175 served ABQ from ORD IIRC. Nice to see the plane return.

I finally got the chance to fly on a UAX E175 operated by Skywest on a roundtrip between LAX and MSP. I posted on the forum a few weeks ago asking if UA had installed the dreaded new "slimline" seats on the 175s, and the answer was a resounding "YES." I was concerned because I really, really dislike those seats. They are hard and uncomfortable, in my opinion. I wanted to try the product out for myself, and my suspicions were confirmed. The seats are not nearly as comfortable as those found on other carriers who operate the 170s and 175s. I was disappointed because the aircraft itself is quite nice, but the comfort level under the UAX/UAL configuration is woeful to say the least. I didn't think UA could manage to make me want to avoid flying on such an amazing aircraft, but somehow, they found a way to do so.

We're replacing the CRJ's and ERJ's below the CRJ -700 and they will soon be at a premium. Some of Us suggested they keep
a few around for emergency Field service to haul around Emergency parts or Mechanics. But? They're not herring us.
That airplane could do well for us were we to use it right. Canadair and Embraer could market the airplane Just For an "AOG Bomber"
About the only think It wouldn't carry is and engine cowl or reverser. But an Aileron ? Spoiler? Engine or Electronic component?

Since EWR has slot controls, it's very hard for others to come in and start competing service on UA's E145 routes. Sorry to say, UA can continue to operate their "less than desirable" planes on routes where there is little or no competition . The E175s are more valuable going to markets where the competition already has larger, more comfortable 2-class planes.

The demand is definitely there for larger planes on many of those E145 routes out of EWR but there just aren't enough larger planes to go around right now. They will show up eventually....maybe along with the 77Ws.

It seems as though LAX is being transformed into the E175 capital for all of the legacy carriers.

IMO hands down OO. Having said that, regionals will provide whatever service standard the mainline carrier dictates provided their equipment permits it. Poster child for that is someone like OO, they already had wifi on DL connection flights when none of the UA OO flights had them. Or Compass E75s that are actually nicer than UA E75s because of the better service standards, especially on routes like SFO-LAX where they serve complimentary fresh snack boxes and beer/wine.

The regionals can be whatever the mainline carrier wants them to be, e.g. phase out all E120s, upgauge all CR2 to CR7, upgauge select CR7s to E75, start serving hot meals instead of shelf stable BoB, etc

170s will stay at Shuttle. 175s go to Republic, replacing the Qs and adding some more lift. It 's in the earnings call.

UAL has realigned their Regional operations to consolidate their regional partners at specific hubs. The current ERJ-175 operators for UAX are SkyWest and Mesa. Mesa operates the ERJ-175 flights from IAH, SkyWest from ORD, SFO/LAX. The regional partner that will operate the ERJ-175s from EWR, and DEN, is Republic. They just announced their order for 55 ERJ-175s last fall, so it's going to be towards the end of this year beginning of next until those new planes arrive on property and begin service. Those 55 ERJ-175s will replace the 18 Q400s currently in service at EWR and DEN, and allow for additional opportunities for growth and ERJ-145 replacements.

There will be plenty of ERJ-175s at EWR in a year, this Summer there are twice as many ERJ-170 flights from EWR than last Summer. They're beefing up EWR's seat counts, give it time.

I was just wondering this same thing. I've noticed that the CR7 is making more visits here than before. Hopefully not too long before the 175s show up at ELP, and while we're at it, a nonstop to ORD would be nice too.

Although I appreciate the sentiment, it is all about perspective. I was happy to see all SF-340's replaced for ERJ's.

I did hear a rumor from someone at UA in ELP that an ELP-IAD route is a possibility in the near future with the E175. It would make sense with all of the military (ie Fort Bliss, White Sands Missile Range) and other government facilities in the El Paso and Las Cruces, NM area.

In the big scheme of things, I'd like to see the E170/E175 reserved for the longer routes and the CRJ700 is plenty of a utility craft to use on those 90 minute or so and under routes. I perfectly realize that utilization doesn't always allow that sort of route planning, but the planes may have similar capacity, but their strengths and weaknesses do not necessarily match.

In one breath I am on an E175 IAH-ABQ on one flight and a CRJ-700 from ORD-ABQ. I wish it was the other way around. Sometimes I think the route planners are sado-masochists.
