It's pretty obvious MIA is going to be 1 out of the 4. Will it be part of the 2 that are soon to be announced? Who knows?

I swear to God immigration at the north terminal keeps getting worse and worse.. Today I flew MAD-MIA and it was a disaster, everyone that works there tells you to go to a different lane or area, whatever system the CBP officers use goes ultra slow for no apparent reason, you're in a lane and they let US citizens get in your way even though you've been waiting for centuries. I was so annoyed and frustrated to the point that I said out loud no wonder everyone hates transiting in US airports and some people that were next to me started complaining as well.

I understand that their computer system was experiencing difficulties last night.

However, please do not attempt to incite anger on the part of other passengers. I have seen people get detained and possibly arrested for that. Understaffing is not the fault of the individual officers themselves.

They don't always set it up but they do group together all their Creole-speaking agents together at a few counters to avoid slowing down lines due to miscommunication on days where PAP / CAP loads are heavy (which is very common-these flights are some of the highest loads for short INTL flights in the system).

Also, as noted above, F9 axed service from Fort Lauderdale to Cleveland today.

I have recently seen Port Au Prince Check-In signs set up near counters. Makes sense due to the language issues and luggage issues. Its not its own counter, but I have seen the PAP flights have signs saying that flight check in here.

So I've got a question.

Living in Houston, I see first hand of how difficult it can be to accommodate many foreign carriers at once.

How does MIA handle their huge number of foreign carriers? Any future construction or new gates?

MIA is an unusually high percentage of its gates as widebody gates, and the majority of gates are international gates. Only a small amount of domestic-only gates.

IIRC, every single gate in the American Airlines terminal is an international gate.

AA has made Iberia go to F because there simply isn't enough gates. AA has paid MIA to renovate the Satellite Terminal so they can have gates there.

Yeah, I think October is when their last flight from FLL will end. I guess that gives G4 more room to grow in C Concourse, but I'll miss those animals. Below is a photo of the last CLE F9 flight that left FLL today.

Foxy the Fox (yep, that's what F9 branded him as) almost looks sad in that picture.

F9's biggest mistake IMO, was not moving to the ULCC model, but removing the LiveTV, which set them apart from the other ULCC competitors.

I haven't flown Delta in a while, and so I was shocked when I found a renovated Sky Club in the middle of FLL's Terminal 2. They have changed the signage to make it more visible, re-did the entryway inside, installed blue moodlighting, and a host of other small, aesthetic improvements:

JAL is scheduled to take delivery of its first 787-9 soon. Hopefully they can announce MIA as a future 789 destination.


In my opinion, the 789 is the most logical/perfect aircraft for this route.

In my opinion, the 789 is the most logical/perfect aircraft for this route.

I am surprised they haven't already announced MIA given they've been flying the 788 for a few years now.

Very few people want the Live TV. The take-up rate is very low.

Nice atmospheric shot. G4 will offer 112% more seats in Q3 2015 from FLL than it did in the same quarter last year. It will become the airline's ninth largest market. FLL will also see 16% yoy growth from B6 and 9% growth from NK in the same period. Decent numbers given the size of existing B6 and NK operations.

We get replays of Cops most nights but I have no idea how old the episodes are - other than they are very old episodes  

I'll keep an eye out for this episode being shown here in about 2 decades LOL

I saw MIA's Emilio Gonzalez on a JetBlue flight from JFK to FLL last night. He was allowed to board prior to the commencement of preboarding (always thought that was a nonsensical term). Nice perk.
