Can they keep it there until morning so I can go see it?

Not too far from the airport and we are getting gusty winds and pocket of strong rains.

Metars around the time:
KBUF 080354Z 22013G22KT 10SM BKN046 OVC060 21/16 A2977 RMK AO2 RAB13E53 SLP079 P0004 T02110161
KBUF 080254Z 16011KT 10SM BKN060 OVC070 24/16 A2975 RMK AO2 RAB30E51 SLP069 P0001 60001 T02390161 58015

Surprised they are not showing RA since in the video you can clearly see it...
Clear skies and strong tail winds.

Hmm the 080254 metar showed 160 at 11 kt...then an hour later 220 at 13g22kt with rain in both Metars during the past hour and ceiling lowering with a slight barometer rise. Press reports stated used the shorter crosswind runway and the passengers interviewed kept remarking how close they seemed to end up to Cayuga road which is right at the end of 32. Watching the video clip linked above customers stated they circled three times prior to landing. Dunno what the weather was between the two metars... but the circling 3 times statements may be a clue. Rwy 5/23 is the main runway for KBUF and is 8800 feet...1700 feet longer than the one chosen.

The decision to land on rwy 32 rather than the longer 5-23 must have been because of a brisk wind out of the Northwest. I saw one news report saying the plane was hit by a strong crosswind which pushed them off the runway. It's possible the wind direction switched at the worst possible moment....maybe he landed long to begin with.

The important thing is that everyone walked off without a scratch.

A METAR is a snap shot of the weather at that time, a lot can change for better or worse in the hour between!

The winds were actually favoring runway 23, but after reading avherald it sounds like storm cells may have been blocking the approach path to 23.

The passenger's description of grass flying past the windows reminds me of the video of the landing at Kathmandu ...
