SWA 2nd hand 73Gs Entry Into Service Update?

Mon Jun 08, 2015 2:49 pm

That's a really broad question only because this is an ongoing endeavor.....

Currently we have quite a few secondhand 73G's already in service, and then we have 73G's from the following carriers/leased going through transition to be put into service:

AeroMexico
China Eastern
China Southern
Germania
Oman
South Korea
Skyline
TUI
WestJet

We've already put into service aircraft from Alaska Airlines, Yakutia, and WestJet to name a few.
ALL views, opinions expressed are mine ONLY and are NOT representative of those shared by Southwest Airlines Co.

I was looking at specifics for each aircraft.

I noticed that N7821L just entered service. When and in what order will the remaining ones or the next few enter service ?

I have no specifics about that, but do know of several that are at Paine Field for modification for Southwest. Here are the ones that I know of, in the approximate order of their arrival at Paine:

N7817J 737-7L9 msn 28013 ex D-AGEY
N7818L 737-76N msn 28609 ex OO-JAN
N7819A 737-7Q8 msn 30649 ex A4O-BS
N7820L 737-79P msn 28253 ex B-2683
N568WN 737-76N msn 32583 ex B-2698
N7834A 737-752 msn 33789 ex XA-HAM
N7822A 737-76N msn 32596 ex B-2699
N7823A 737-7CT msn 32749 ex C-FWBG
N561WN 737-73V msn 32417 ex HL8215
N7825A 737-7CT msn 32750 ex C-FWBL
N7827A 737-79P msn 28255 ex B-5031
N7828A 737-7CT msn 33697 ex C-FWBW
N7844A 737-752 msn 35118 ex XA-GMV
N7826B 737-79P msn 30035 ex B-5032
N7831B 737-7CT msn 32752 ex C-FWCC
N7830A 737-7L9 msn 28008 ex OY-JTW
N7829B 737-7CT msn 32751 ex C-FWBX

These aircraft have arrived over the last 7 months, and take differing lengths of time for refurbishment. The former WestJet planes seem to be the quickest to complete their work.

I will stop here with this information. I have a list of several other registrations that are reserved for SWA. If people are interested, I can include those in a later post.

Are these second hand 73Gs primarily to replace older generation 737 retirements? Are any of these used for fleet growth?

There is a COPA -700 that will wear N8251R, as to why it is wearing that regi, I have no clue.

It all depends on what mods need to be done. Some of these A/C are also due for checks as well, and get done during the mods.
