Falcon Air Express Shutdown

Tue Jun 09, 2015 5:16 pm

Well an airline that I used to work a ground handling contract for is now gone. Looks like Falcon Air Express shut down operations... They handed over their operating cerft. on Friday..From reading other news links and forums online the company was just horrible. Sad to see people out of work but the company could not survive without the I.C.E contract...

I would say it was a pleasure to work your old, decrepit MD83s but then I would be lying...

I had to have a double look at this, there was another Falcon Express based in the Middle East that closed down a few years back.

I hope the employees are able to find alternative employment.

I always feel bad for the employees when an airline (or any business for that fact) goes out of business, but this airline ran out of ACY for a while doing casino charters, and their reliability was pretty bad.

While I'm disheartened so sew people loose their jobs, this announcement is far from unexpected. The article says that officials at LAL did their due diligence and did not knee jerk to FAEs initial proposal of schedule service. From what I understand, they were essentially kicked out of MIA for 200k in past due fees.

They did get some decent charter business with the NCAA this past March/early April during the NCAA bball tournament.

Those that aren't scabs, yes, I hope they find work. The scabs, they can rot. They flew struck Spirit work a few years back and I'm sure that everyone is on the lookout for those who did it.

G4 used to use these guys for subservice all the time. Then they dropped a planeload full of passengers into the wrong city and I think that ended that.

Who beat them out for the I.C.E. contract?

Well, maybe this will give Orange Air a chance to expand a bit.

And he'll probably be back in a year or so with another outfit.

I hope the people who lost their jobs (and refused to fly struck work) can find new ones soon.

How did they lose money with the majority of their flying government contracts and sports charters and backing up G4?

With Falcon Air Express out of the picture are there any reputable charter carriers left in the market.

Not sure this outfit qualified as particularly reputable, especially compared to

How many people worked for Falcon.

Given the fleet size, I imagine that the numbers must be fairly small.

When I was a mainline CSA I handed an ACY charter for Falcon Air. The crews were really friendly. I do remember the plane being really ratty inside, with mismatched seat covers. I feel bad for their employees.
