I wonder if the C-Series will see any love. Sure hope so. That plane's looks keep growing on me, especially with those LX colors

Hopefully this is the show where Bombardier cracks it with the C-Series and lands a significant new order. The CS-300 is a great looking plane with performance and economics that appear to match.

Chinese manufacturer Comac secures orders ("commitments") for 7 ARJ21 regional jets, and 57 C919!

The DC-9 fan in me wish there were more orders for the ARJ21, as I love diversity in the sky.

The orders – which will be revealed throughout the week-long Show – have been signed with airlines from five continents, once again underlining the versatility of the ATR ‘-600’ and its worldwide success.

...suggests that there will be an order from Oceania and from North America.

Not strictly an order, but the ATR press release also mentions a new cabin that sounds a lot like a combi, for operators needing increased freight capacity:

"ATR unveiled a new cabin combining increased cargo volume – up to more than 19 m3 in volume – plus seats for up to 44 passengers. The launch customer for this mixed cabin is Papua New Guinea’s PNG Airlines, which will receive its first delivery in 2015."

This is in addition to the already previously announced high-density cabin option for 78 pax.

On the negative side for ATR, it will be yet another airshow without being allowed to launch their 90/100 seater.

United Airlines orders 28 E175 jets (10 firm + 18 options).

Actually, from the article:

"CHICAGO, June 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines today announced that the company will add 10 Embraer E175 aircraft to the United Express fleet, offering more customers greater comfort and convenience during their in-flight experience. Additionally, United expects that the airline or one of the carriers that operate as United Express will convert 18 more E175 aircraft to firm orders in the near term"

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/united...es-add-more-embraer-141800768.html

What this order and conversion from options means is that UA will definitely be at or over their 76-seat scope limit sooner than later. Either they will need to renegotiate with ALPA about the addition of a "new narrow body" aircraft and possibly make the "soon-to-be-acquired" A319s eligible to increase the 76-seat flying OR UA will need to order, or acquire a whole batch of new narrow bodies.

Highly likely NZ is going to need to replace the 72-500s in the next couple of years, some of them are edging on 16 years old.

Replacing the Q300's makes sense, with the current regional shake up maybe we could see some 42-600s?

Amazing they are booking aircraft for delivery as far as 2020.

They also confirmed they plan to certify higher-density, 78-seat version of ATR72-600 by end of Q4.

It's sad the Bombardier Q400 is not selling very well.
Why endure the nightmare and congestion of LAX when BUR, LGB, ONT & SNA is so much easier to fly in and out of. Same with OAK & SJC when it comes to SFO.

It's as artificial as the existence of a made-up continent called "Oceania", but PNG is usually defined as falling within Oceania.

The Q400's closest competition is the ATR72. However, comparing the two aircraft is a bit like comparing a Mercedes E550 to a Ford Fusion. They're only similar in that they have four wheels and can carry up to 5 people. Here's an article comparing the ATR72-500 to the Q400. Of course, ATR is now selling the ATR72-600, but the differences aren't that significant to negate the whole article. http://theflyingengineer.com/aircraf...-to-fly-a-turboprop-q400-vs-atr72/

The simple fact is that while the ATR is cheaper to produce/purchase, it doesn't work for every airline. The Q400 is more of a niche product. I don't think it's fair to ask BBD to lower its price to compete with the ATR when the product is not the equivalent.

While it would be nice for BBD to sell more aircraft (they could use the cash!), I think it's fairly natural to expect less sales of the Q400 vs the ATR72. Many airlines simply don't need the extra capability that the Q400 offers.

I don't think they're forthcoming, but I'm still hoping for more sales of the CS100 and CS300. However, I think that if bigger sales are ever to come, they will happen after the plane enters service and starts to prove itself in the real world. I admit, however, I would enjoy being proven wrong.

As telegraphed by the new CEO in an interview a week or two ago, none are expected. Showing both the CS100 and CS300 and having the CS300 flying daily is the big news along with the improved specifications (more range, etc.)

I guess you haven't been following the various C Series threads on A.net. Yeah, I'd also like a big firm order to occur, but that is unlikely at this show. Hopefully by the end of 2015 or more likely 2016 once the CS100 enters service with SWISS.

BBD got a new CEO in February and then a new head Sales guy from an aircraft Leasing background about two months ago. Give them six to 12 months to produce results. Then if they don't, the knives will be out.

made-up continent called "Oceania",

It's not a continent, it's a disparate collection of island states that are distinct from Asia, the Americas, Australia and Antarctica on its borders.

Anyhow, congratulations to ATR, and their two Oceanic customers, NZ and CG for the order announcements.

The order for Airlines PNG (fomerly Milne Bay Air) will serve them very well in its Combi configuration when supplying the mining industry in the mineral rich nation.
