Air Transat BUD Seasonal Service Has Began

The new once weekly YYZ-YUL-BUD service began last week and both arriving and departing flights were full. It was operated with an A332 configured for 346 passengers including 12 "business" class. The reporter says demand was so high that they had to operate with an A330-300, but it's not right. I guess they had originally planed to operate an A310.

Since “Hungary is the number one target for Canadian foreign investment in Central and Eastern Europe, receiving the largest share of business and capital from Canada in the region", I'm curious to see how TS service evolve with time and if they add more frequencies, unless Rouge enter the market.

Finally somebody in Canada stopped to pretend that there is a big hole in Central Europe and nothing else. Hope it goes well for TS and I hope the route will eventually attract Rouge as well.

TS began flights to Prague last year, still operated this year, and apparently planned to return in May next year.

TS never mentioned A310s on the BUD route, it was always planned with A330s. TS and SkyGreece now operate flights from BUD to YYZ, although SkyGreece's ops have been sketchy, today's flight is cancelled.

To bad neither WIzz nor TS seem to be interested in codesharing, TS could really expand their European network and WIzz could gain access to Canada. I'm sure AC/LH and others would put up a fight.

One question, since the first point of entry is YUL, do pax continuing to YYZ have to deplane in Montreal to clear customs? Or does the TS flight arrive at a international gate in YYZ?

So I wonder why the reporter had to present "facts" as if there was an unexpected high demand, which warranted a larger aircraft?

Since the flight stops at YUL for only one hour, passengers are probably deplaned at an international gate in YYZ. Todays flight is 50 minutes early so far.

Besides being sketchy, Sky Greece does not have business class. At least Transat has something that tries to resemble business class,

I remember the good old days of DL,AA, and MA JFK-BUD allowing easier access to relatives in Hungary. If only a US carrier would restart BUD service despite rather poor connections.

The problems with both Transat and SkyGreece are that they don't have any agreements, which is not good for connection passengers. "Poor" connections are better than no connections at all.

At least they do have Y+ in the 767. I'm not sure how much is it from Y besides the seat pitch. Although it won't be on that route, WS 767 will not offer business class either.

I don't understand. Do you mean poor connections in the USA or in Hungary? In Hungary you can only connect to ground transportation.

I decided, just out of curiosity, to look at what currently exists out of BUD, and there are no flights to other parts of Hungary. So, that is correct.
