Fri Jul 03, 2015 5:31 pm

GOL have taken delivery of 737-800 PR-GXZ in an all white finish ready for the new livery unveiling on the 15th.

Didn't see that one coming. I really like the livery as it is! Any guesses what it'll look like? Hopefully we'll see the new livery in Porto Alegre soon after it's revealed.

Currently no. Gol has a 738 in the national colors but it's a special livery.

Didn't AZUL paint their A330's that are flying to the US in the national colors of Brazil?

Poor of Gol, if its new livery has a new logo.
The name Gol is too weak to enable such a big investiment be effective.
Someday they will realize that the changes needed in their identity were way deeper than they were thinking.

Just a livery change or a whole rebrand?

I would love to see GOL go for a more modern looking logo. Something in a modern, sans serif typeface would look amazing, combined with a new livery

GOL has changed their profile picture on Facebook to an orange background with the cover photo that states "Quem voa so vai querer voar GOL." which roughly translate to "Who flies so will want to fly GOL."

So maybe a total rebrand sticking with the orange? GOL seems to be making it seem like more than just the logo is getting changed.

An orange widget, perhaps? Kidding, although I'm surprised the $46M investment and $300M loan guarantees have not been discussed. http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/...delta-accord-idUSS8N0ZF00420150710

I saw a news flash about that but didn't get a chance to read the story.

That is a fair amount of money in loans and it is up to $56M that Delta will buy in preferred stock.

So more growth? Just for a rebrand/updated product? Both? This seems to go along with a future JV between DL and GOL. Hopefully July 15 will not be a disappointment.

Aircraft in question will be PR-GYA. No spotter has caught it at PAE, which is odd.

As previously stated, GOL took delivery of the airplane. I would assume it's in Brazil.

If that is the new livery, I quite like it. It reminds me of Etihad's new livery.

Announcement looks to be tomorrow around 11am Brasil time. Here is an ad making the rounds in Brasil and basically says that the 100th aircraft delivered from Boeing will present a new moment for the airline on the 15/07/2015 at 11am Brasil time.

The colors used seem to be similar to the image of the new scheme posted above

And a site ready for tomorrows presentation : http://www.timedeaguiasgol.com.br/

Also Found this which is a link to a design for a new logo for GOL and its the same as on the scheme posted above. Here is the link and one of the images.

Here is a link to the site where it appears.

I copied the URL of the image you posted and punched it into images.google.com. It first appeared on the internet in a forum about skycrapers in April. I'd be surprised if a rebrand for a major airline that's being kept under wraps was floating around some random forum months ago.

Running your images though images.google.com, I the same graphics which are an art student's concepts for a GOL rebrand from February, 2014.

I'd bet good money this is not the rebrand.

It seems to be a piece of the diamond with circle motif from the Brazilian flag.

What I am curious about is WHY? If the hope is that a fresh livery is going to boost brand affinity and therefore sales, they will be in for a surprise.

The best time to change a livery is to reflect change and help support something that is NEW about the brand itself. The is an enormous difference between a BRAND and BRANDING.

What are they doing with the ownership of the VARIG name? If I recall, they spent a lot to get the trademark.

More investment from Delta (JV down the road), maturing of the airline, preparing for international growth. Those are possibilities but doubt they have any impact of the re-brand so we will just have to wait until tomorrow to see why they are re-branding.

Varig is regarded in Brazil with the same care Pan Am is regarded in America. Gol wouldn't ever rename themselves Varig because they simply are in no way worthy of that name. That's why they quit using the name in some of their own planes, because their service simply did not meet the brand they claimed to represent.

Varigol sounds like a new ED medicine...

As for using the name VARIG which they own along with the visual assets, you are right, they can't live up to the promise that name has.

I am still wondering why they are dispensing with a perfectly fine livery for a LCC. But, as someone mentioned above, perhaps Delta wants them to look more "mainline" -- that could answer the reason WHY they are changing.

I recall a few years ago GOL had just received a handful of brand new 737's and I saw them at CGH, and admittedly, up close, that one of my least favorite airplanes looked fantastic. So shiny, new and sparkling in the Brazilian sun, they looked great even with their LCC livery.
