YYT On UA

Sat Jul 18, 2015 10:24 pm

How is the UA EWR-YYT route doing? Any chance of additional frequency? This is such an easy wasy to get to YYT and avoid the customs hassle in YYZ!

When did this become a mainline flight? I always thought it was Express.

It's typically mainline during the summer season.

I'm guessing a lot of people on that flight are connecting through EWR to get to IAH. Both YYT and IAH are oil & gas cities.

Really? I figure they are mostly US tourists to Atlantic Canada coupled with some Canadians going international from EWR. I can't imagine that there is that much traffic to go to IAH. Even if there wore it would be better to connect in YYZ to avoid EWR delays.

IAH is currently the #1 US market not served non-stop from YYT.

Canadians/folks in St. John's can already fly non-stop to Europe from YYT with Air Canada. No need to backtrack all the way to EWR.

I agree with you on the connecting aspect through. It's much easier to connect through YUL and YYZ than EWR on the way to/from IAH.

Not for cheap. Keep in mind this is Canadians and Newfs we are talking about :P. I would expect that it would be cheaper connecting in north america then flying to LHR/DUB and connecting in Europe. (Also more familiar)

Generally, late April to late September/early October is run by mainline, then reverts to Express usually on the E45, however, we have occasionally seen the E70. The worst thing about Express is they cancel at the drop of a dime with any type of bad weather forecast.

Sometimes yes, it is the 737, however, for the most part this year and last, it has been A319/320 doing the route.

Naturally there are some, however, from what I've heard, this is a popular route for connections to Florida and other sun destinations due to the frequency of flights from EWR to FL, etc.
It is expected that once the new renovations are done in YYT, there is going to be US and possibly INT customs preclearance.

Remember, UAX E145 have a 12900lb fuel tank - that's it. If YYT has ANY weather, YQX or YJT are the only available options for an alternate, and those are 1200 lbs or more of gas that could have been used to hold.

There's not much of an option for alternates up there.
