I think B6 will do well, especially if they can copy the success they have had in CHS and SAV recently. Going to MCO
and driving can be a pain with traffic at times. So I wish them nothing but the best. I say throw a A321 on it with mint to
JFK just for starters

Kind of surprised its not an E190. Is there enough DAB traffic for an A320 everyday?

I would say expect an E190 during the slow months and an A320 during the busy months. I also think we need to wait and see how the first year performs. They are projected to exceed CO's 75,000 annual pax (from when CO did DAB-EWR). If so it could warrant a year-round A320 or maybe split to 2x E190.

kayak also shows DAB fares when one chooses MCO and checks "Include nearby." It's possible that B6's site might eventually associate MCO and DAB together as Orlando area. DAB is just 53.5 miles from Orlando, FL according to google maps, and 13 miles less from Lake Mary. With that, some that might usually fly JFK to MCO might be swayed if the DAB fare was less per ticket and then consider the savings and opt to fly into DAB.

Nah. 70.54 miles.

And it's a long 71 miles during morning or evening rush.

The problem is, there is no direct highway access from downtown Orlando to MCO. It is a rare attribute. I don't think I have ever seen a city without highway access from downtown to the airport.

Daytona is closest to downtown.

So to get to MCO, you have 3 options:

1. Get on a long beltway that wraps around downtown and connects with the airport

2. Take the direct route (I-4) and get off and ride streets to the airport through some "interesting" areas

3. Take the direct route (I-4) and go 10 miles past downtown, to hook around and double back on the BeeLine (not Beachline  ) 528. This adds at least 20 miles.

Short story long...DAB-MCO is a pain in the a**

I would think B6 got a sweet deal and there is no problem filling NY-Fliorida in the winter. There is plenty of demand headed to central Florida. Continental operated multiple daily EWR-DAB flights for years and years.

That is DAB to MCO distance. DAB to downtown Orlando is 53 miles. Granted, most Orlando area attractions are south of Orlando proper. But people will drive sometimes and deal with extra mileage on a rental car if they find a better deal on fares at an alternate airport. I'm sure not alone in flying into alternate airports: I flew into PBI when really just wanted to go down further south, but the award ticket availability (on another carrier) happened to be only at PBI and not FLL at the time. I was willing to drive a bit as it was a rental car that was attaining the mileage.

Atleast kayak will provide visibility of B6 at DAB, when users search for MCO and check "Include nearby airports". B6's site doesn't associate the two, but maybe it will as an Orlando area airport in the future.
