On the assembled aircraft up to this date the non painted tail seems to be more a Qatar issue than a batch 2 vs batch 3 difference

The tail fin of MSN29 CX is also not painted.

All the batch 1 and 2 aircraft have some sort of a rough finish on the fuselage just above the belly fairing. This is clearly absent in batch 3. Initially it was speculated as taped instrumentation on the prototypes and later theories included some aerodynamic concept. Whatever it was, it is now gone.

The supply chain is accelerating the production rate, Spirit AeroSystems has increased its output to four ship sets per month. Soon the assembly line will reach this rate too.

The Trent XWB-97 engine is set to fly for the first time in October.

I was even more impressed with the production rates they are currently working with: two per week on a consistent basis, and "testing" four per week, just to verify their internal procedures and protocols:

Quote:

Rolls-Royce is currently producing two XWB-84s a week – although this has been raised to four to test the robustness of the production process and supply chain, says Tim Boddy, head of marketing for the programme. Both suppliers and final assembly line, he says, coped well with the exercise. He expects output to rise to five a week by the end of 2017 – including by then one example of the -97 variant – and to reach seven a week across the two variants by 2020.

It only requires 2 per month for the rest of the year, plus 1 extra frame, to hit that target. Shouldn't be too tricky, given how things seem to be going at the moment.

I wouldn't be surprised if they actually manage 16 or even 17.
