Spirit And Frontier Repaint

Mon Jul 20, 2015 10:34 pm

Hello,

I am creating this post to track the repainting of the Spirit and Frontier fleets. Both airlines announced a new livery in September of 2014. I know both airlines are taking their time with the repaint progress so very few aircraft have been repainted.

F9:
A319-100 (0/35) 0%
A320-200 (3/22) 13.6%

Note: All three A320 aircraft in new livery were delivered in new livery. A321 fleet coming online Q4 2015?

NK:
A319-100 (?/29) ?%
A320-200 (?/42) ?%
A321-200 (1/3) 33%

Note: Several Spirit aircraft delivered in new livery. Several repainted during service.

IIRC Spirit has 3 different liveries currently in use.

The bright splashy color one, the pixalated one and now the taxi yellow and black.

I was driving with my young niece over the weekend. We saw a NK banana yellow
A320 climbing out of DFW. She made the comment " That looks like a school bus"

I replied the inside does as well

I believe when we started changing over to the ACRO seats. They are installing them there at PEMCO

Yes, Francesca, the Flamingo.

Weird, only N227FR has the green cheatline. N228 AND N229FR both have blue cheatlines. Wionder why F9 made the small change.

Are those the same seats used on the early A320s? I haven't been on an NK aircraft in a while and have no idea what the onboard product is like anymore.

ACRO seats are awesome actually. Wider aisle that 2 people can easily pass now and the seats themselves are roomier than I thought they were gonna be.

No, they are not. The A320 fleet originally used TIMCO Featherweight seats, which are also used by G4 on their MD-80 fleet, while the A319 and old A321s were delivered from XFW with traditional seats. Newer A320s and the new A321s use ACROs, and the remaining A319 fleet is being retrofitted with Aviointeriors seats to replace the factory seats. I'm not sure if the A320s with TIMCO seats are switching to the ACRO seats.

The ACROs have a plastic traytable, while the Aviointeriors seats have a metal traytable. But the two are of an almost identical basic design: metal non-reclining shell, leather with no back padding, a design that makes NK's infamous 28" pitch more like 31" on another airline with regular full-profile reclining seats, and swing-up armrests.

No, they are the same seats Hawaiian is installing in their 717s. We have them on 7 319s with the remainder due for retrofit this year and all new 320s (starting with 642) and 321s will get them
