208EX's from what I'm seeing. $99 one way from Ft. Myers isn't bad.. Silver seems to be $150 to $300 one way; Tampa is pricing out at $160ish one way on Mokulele and over $300 on Silver - they should be able to capture the local traffic

Also, I can't find the thread, but Mokulele was hiring float Caravan pilots in the Miami area some months back. The reply had a link to the source, but I've tried my hardest to find it and nothing has materialized.

Are there any seaplane launch bases still in usable condition in existence? What about the ones Chalk's used before they became defunct?

The Port of Miami has dismantled what was left of Watson Island's terminal, from what I've heard.... the Paradise Island Seaplane Base was torn down; the Bimini Seaplane base is still open and being used.

I think that was cape air actually, for their Miami to Bahamas flight. Mokulele only announced the Florida market operations in June.

The Seaplane Base is still there and operational. Its not controlled nor on the land of the Port of Miami.

Resort World Bimini has Caravans flying in and out of there every day, and the terminal building even has a cafe in it. The only difference between the seaplane base now since the last time I flew out of it in 2000 on Chalks is that it no longer has U.S. CBP facility. Now that was something, Watson Island Seaplane Base being a port of entry airport. CBP would check all 17 passengers in a trailer.

I have noticed (on FlightAware) that Interstate Leasing is running their 734s from MIA to various destinations. Are these charter flights or something else?

Interstate Leasing aircraft are operated by Swift Air out of Phoenix. They started flying Cuba charters a while back and have started an extensive program of vacation flying out of the Northeast and Midwest to the Caribbean. They are also operating Choice Aire scheduled flying out of BNA, ACY and MIA.

I've been told SAS will announce MIA along with other routes next week. They were suppose to announce new routes about 2 months ago but that of course was postponed.

If you check out this thread SAS To Announce New Routes In Upcoming Weeks (by Miami Jun 25 2015 in Civil Aviation) you can see some charts showing some good info. With that being said, there will be enough passengers.

Let's wait and see what's happening next week.

CPH-MIA daily year round
OSL-MIA 2 x weekly seasonal

As much as I would like this, it's not really how SK roles, they try not to operate seasonal longhauls, at least based on their current route map. They're a very business oriented airline with some in roads into obvious holiday and O+D destinations, good match for MIA which is a mix of both of those things. They remind me a lot of SWISS.

I'm glad it's rumored to OSL, but I thought ARN would be the bigger market.

12/30 was always a preferred landing runway no? A couple of months ago they used 12 for a lot of take offs especially in the morning rush for flights going to South America and the Caribbean.

Does anybody have any news on the BA A380 gate? and the supposed gate at H for AFs A380?

Perhaps it has something to do with the new runway separation rules that went into effect a year or two ago; today MIA uses 9/27 for more landings and takes offs because of them.

when does BA start their A380 service to MIA? Sept/Oct ?. AF comes back with the A380 on October 25th, i'm guessing they will still use J17 then?

KLM, probably, if they can free up a few A330s? I'd like them to "compete" with Arkefly. I believe its a missing hole in their network.

LOT is possible. I believe MIA is in their plans.

Brussels Air, maybe. Would like for them to "compete" with Jetairfly. Only problem is the lack of aircraft. But would be interesting for them to come with the Star Alliance presence building up.

Aer Lingus is a no-brainier. Especially when they rejoin OneWorld.

For big European carriers, KL is the only one left that does not currently, or have plans to fly into MIA. I still am very surprised, given how large a market Miami is, that KL does not serve MIA.

Are you referring to international pax? I would have thought that MCO, FLL, TPA, RSW, JAX and PBI would have most certainly accounted for more than half of the state's tourist trade?
