Air France B772 Cabin

Thu Jul 23, 2015 11:59 am

Having just recently booked a flight on AF, and after checking some cabin photos, I wonder what the status of AFs Eco and Biz cabin is. Their B773 seem to have a newer / updated cabin in contrast to their B772s. WIll the B772 cabin get an update or is it allready updated and I simply looked at old pics?

Thanks!

Air France used to have 2 different configurations for its 25 B772ER :

- 4 P / 49 J / 24 W / 202 Y

- 35 J / 24 W / 250 Y

They are all progressively reconfigured with the new interiors in 40 J / 24 W / 216 Y

11 B772ER have already been retrofitted with the new seats (along with 5 B77W)

This is what the new Business Class looks like (1 x 2 x 1 config) :

Flew a few weeks ago on an AF B777-200 (F-GSPC) that has been reconfigured with the new business class. It was great... a big improvement over the old seats.
I actually think it is now the best business class seat I have tested of any airline across the Atlantic (DL, AA, UA, KL, AC, BA, LH, IB, TP, LX, AZ, TK).

Business seats on the non-reconfigured planes vary slightly:

- 4 P / 49 J / 24 W / 202 Y
Affaires is NEV3

- 35 J / 24 W / 250 Y
Affaires is NEV4
Some see lines, others see between the lines.

Is this what AF refers to internally as the new 'BEST' cabin configuration? Not certain what B--E-S-T stands for.

Yes. "Best & Beyond" is the name of the whole project of new Cabin Interior, not only in J but also P, W & Y with the new design, new seats, new IFE etc .... for the Long Haul fleet.

They call it "Smart & Beyond" for the Short/medium haul fleet

Thank you for the information! I am really pulling for AF and hope that the positive changes they are making can turn the company's fortunes positive.

I flew on one of AF's 772's this past Tuesday in the new J cabin and I must say it's the best J seat I've been in across the Atlantic. I also flew the same seat in the 773 earlier this year.
It is definitely a needed and welcomed improvement over the old seat. I wish they would put these seats on the A380's!

The retrofit of the 10 A380 along with the 15 A332 will begin next summer/Autumn 2016 after the work will be completed with the B777 fleet.

The new Best & Beyond cabins are absolutely wonderful! Had the pleasure of flying business to Singapore and it was absolutely amazing and comfortable. It definitely puts AirFrance ahead of all the European airlines in all classes really. I have not heard a single negative response about the new cabins. This summer AirFrance implemented quick change where business seats were replaced with economy seats, the legroom is plentiful and worth the extra charge for these seats. If you get one of these quick change 77W, do select seat 18A as it has the most legroom.

All 777 aircraft get the new cabin with the exception of a few used for the French territories, about 14 or so aircraft will have the NEV4 seats and no La Premiere.

Not exactely.

44 B777 will get the new interior : the 25 B772ER + 19 B77W (The ones offering First Class). All the other B77W configured with no First and "only" 42J or 14J will keep the "old" NEV4 seats.
