Doubtful BA would start flights to New Zealand again especially with an A380. If they did a 777 or 787 would be logical.

Umm almost lol. I very much doubt it certainly not an A380. I guess its possible with a 777/787 but its a long flight and requires a stop.

Strange, the first of April was several months ago. Seriously I can't see BA back here with their own aircraft, and certainly not with the A380. I wonder when CX commence A350 service to AKL. I think BA have their code on that sector. If someone wasn't paying attention they may have misread A350 and the codeshare, putting 2 & 2 together and coming up with A380 as the answer.

The point is not that they will fly non-stop LHR-AKL. Obviously it will stop somewhere, the whole point is will they be starting a LHR-XXX-AKL service ?

Haha good luck believing this. SYD would surely be upgraded to a 380 before any mention of AKL being announced.. Especially with a 380.

Maybe if they did a deal with AA and QF, they could start LHR-LAX-AKL.. But even then I'd be very skeptical.

Announced to be May 2016, CX's first long haul route with the 350 after a few months of proving around Asia.

FWIW, who on earth is Airlive.Net?

I never said anything about it being non stop, of course it has to stop somewhere as I said. I can't see BA coming to AKL again probably ever. But stranger things have happened. Maybe MH could quit AKL and BA fly KUL-AKL. Otherwise probably via LAX/SFO.

Thanks NZ107, in that case I'd almost put money on it being a codeshare on the CX A350 having been misread. When you read the linked article it's pretty clear that it was written by someone who is not the sharpest tool in the shed. There are enough typos for it to have been written by an anetter

The fact is they already codeshare on the route though.. And A340 is not too dissimilar to A350 and A380

Not saying there's any truth whatsoever behind this rumour! Gave me a good laugh though. Especially "co sharing".
