Google Maps: WN's New Baby Boeing At SAT

Sun Aug 09, 2015 4:26 am

If you thought the 735, 736 and the A318 were small, our friends at Google Maps have found the next great idea. Sadly, I don't think it'll ever get off the ground.

I was looking around the map for something else in San Antonio and stumbled upon this one-engined cutie after zooming in on SAT.

Exiting Twy Golf onto Rwy 4/22.

Disclosure: Yes, I know why this composite image happened. I still found it adorable.

Looks like she's wearing the new livery, too!

That's pretty cute! Sometimes those composites make for great new creations.

I saw one at LAX where one half was a 747 and the other half was an A380. It matched up perfectly and looked like it was meant to be!

Sorry but I can't find it in the link provided -- concentrated my search at the intersection of 4/22 and Golf...

Me either. Nothing anywhere on 4/22, especially not at G.

Nah, that is the old livery. If it was the new one you would see the yellow in front of the red.

I checked the link on my ipad and couldn't find it. Checked it on my laptop computer and saw the plane. Google probably has different maps servers with different versions of the aerial view depending on which one they route you to.
I was raised by a cup of coffee.

On your iPad, if you go to the address bar and "request desktop site" it shows up.

Yeah, I'm on my laptop and it's just not showing up. Oh well, thanks for the suggestions, folks. (I did enjoy studying SAT anyway!)

If you look at the southern part of the San Diego Bay on Google maps, you can see an Airbus of some sort flying east-southeast, with its exhaust blurring the water of the bay. Based on flight patterns in that area, Google caught it at around 12,000 ft.

Interesting catch. However that Airbus is a 737, sir.

You are correct, I didn't even look at the nose of it.

I see them from SAN over the bay in that exact spot all of the time (from below of course), so I was very intrigued to see that Google had done it from above.
