The service to and from San Antonio is an interesting addition as Allegiant's service in FLL concentrates on destinations along the east coast for the most part.

What immediately stands out to me, at least on the Orlando end, is that ROC, PIT, OMA, SAT, and MCI are all cities that WN has a monopoly on. DL does offer some Sat. only service to a few of these, but it's not even year-round.

They seem to be doing ok against WN in the TUL-LAS market. G4 seems to be capturing the market that wouldn't fly at the fares WN offers for a LAS trip. If WN serves the route multiple times per day and G4 comes in with a twice weekly option, WN doesn't appear to see the need to compete on price.

I'm incredibly surprised about ROC-SFB, considering the fact that they haven't even begun initial service to ROC (via FLL) which begins October 9th. I think it's also funny that this morning in WN's newest schedule update, they published that ROC-MCO.will go to 2X daily in MAR and APR, as well as ROC-TPA. Unrelated now, but could play a part in the future of G4 at ROC.

No, only connections through JFK are available. I feel like they may have had 190's on this route at some point.

As long as they stay at 2-3X weekly I don't think WN will care all that much about having them on the same route.

ok. If G4 can operate routes from OMA AND Grand Island, why can't they do MKE in addition to Green Bay or Madison or wherever in WI they fly? I guess I'm just desperate and hoping we get yet another airline here in MKE, although I'm happy for my hometown of OMA.

I was not surprised about ROC-SFB, which the D and C reported this morning. ROC has supported 2x daily to Orlando at various times in the past. 2x weekly on top of one daily WN should not, as spinkid notes, likely be a concern for WN. Yes, B6 did operate one daily E190 on ROC-MCO a few years ago. They competed with AirTran's one daily 717.

But the WN 2nd daily makes things interesting. Is it just for March and April, or is it permanent? 2x daily 73G-size aircraft may be just a bit much outside of spring break season. I wonder if they'll price it to try to drive out G4.

I was expecting to see Allegiant with new Concord/Charlotte (USA or JQF) to Las Vegas service, in-line with their SCASD filing. Vegas has been mentioned in the past as a 'wish list' destination with Allegiant. I guess PGD could be a target in the future, but I would think three FL destinations from Concord may be enough. I think Allegiant is up to about 9-10 flights per week from Concord.

The only concern I have with Allegiant in Concord is that it will be very easy to pack up and move ops to CLT, which is only 20 miles away.

I believe Allegiant's strategy has shifted (within the last 18 months) to use of more major airports where it will compete against another carrier on a comparable route on some east/northeast-Florida routes.

At CLT, It would be interesting for me to know t if AA would fare match a CLT-MCO flight to an Allegiant CLT-SFB flight or if AA would view that as different enough.

Indeed. Granted the previous time was a little different. There was US in the market as well doing flights to LAS. The pressure of two main competitors pushed G4 out just before they were going to announce SFB. OKC has grown significantly though since then and fares from the market are overall higher. G4 should be able to make a go of it with the limited schedule.

Now no reference to what days they are going to operate the flights or the times of the flights.

I can not answer if they got throttled but I do know that G4 pulled the plug in about 90 days.
That would indicate they must have had some really miserable loads.
That could have been due to the days they operated or time of day they operated or competition.
Obviously the situation was so bad that they did not stay long enough to develop/build a market.

I get the idea since they do not seem to be too up front about their schedule they appear to be looking for ULCC customers that build their schedule around available flights instead of finding flights to match their schedule.

I would love to see them succeed it just really seems doubtful that G4 would stay long enough to develop a market due to their past history at OKC if their loads are light.

I did not fall off the turnip truck yesterday.

My point is if you are going to have a major presser with all the local media in attendance you would be well advised to announce the Exciting Advantages of which 2 Days of the week you operate your Low Cost flights.

Pathetic marketing, hard to stimulate a market when you put them to sleep at your press release and expect your customers to play hide and seek.

There is a grave possibility this is an indication of the previous failure.

That would indicate they must have had some really miserable loads.

I flew em a few times OKC-LAS...pre-bag charge/nickel and dime crap...even when I paid $39 o/w, the flights were maybe half full.

I see WN starting a fare war here...or at least re-upping the fact they give you two free checked bags and don't charge you for carry-ons or to book a ticket on their own website!

My point is if you are going to have a major presser with all the local media in attendance you would be well advised to announce the Exciting Advantages of which 2 Days of the week you operate your Low Cost flights.

And your point would be wrong for several reasons.

1. Sell, don't tell. You stimulate a curiosity to drive web traffic.
2. Not locking yourself into concrete dates if schedules change.
if assumptions could fly, airliners.net would be the world's busiest airport

I keep going back to TUL-LAS market. G4 competes there with WN, and WN doesn't seem to match fares there at all. I don't think WN is willing to get into a fare ware with G4, especially over twice weekly service.

So does this mean utilization of the MD80s will be ramped up a bit or are there still more Airbuses to be delivered?

G4 is supposed to have 10 A319s and 15 A320s in the fleet by year-end. Back in April, that figure was 6 A319s and 9 A320s.

In 2016, seven more A319s will enter the G4 fleet (then four A320s and one A319 in 2017, then 12 A319s in 2018), and three aircraft will be retired in 2016 and four in 2017. Given how Hawaii has been a total failure for G4 and they have written off the fleet in the finances, I'm willing to bet that 6 of those planes are the entire 757 fleet. Of course, G4 is still looking for more CFM56 A32x, and as CEO operators start switching to NEOs in the next year or two, I could see G4 picking up a ton of used CEOs at prices as cheap as their fares.

It will be interesting to say the least. ROC will on some days have a total of 6 daily flights to Florida, up from 1 daily this September. That is an astonishing capacity increase. ROC's Florida market has always been incredibly unpredictable, so I would be lying if I said I don't think something on either WN or G4 will have to give.
