Building construction crews commonly use a plant to celebrate installation of the highest/final piece of steel in a building. Kinda like a temporary flag on top!

If you had a better view you would probably see the signatures of all the ironworkers on the beam too.

False alarm on LN 14 engines - it is getting cabin installation done, and had engines placed next to it, but those engines were for a new-build aircraft. LN 22 is indeed getting its engines now.

I expect the delivery schedule is Ethiopian's, probably relating to when 757 or 767 leases allow those aircraft to be returned. They are taking delivery of three early-build 787-8s (LN 12, 14, 13, in order) within three months in summer 2016. That timeframe makes sense for LN 12 and LN 13, which started rework relatively recently, but leaves some extra time on the schedule for LN 14. Probably best for Boeing to finish up all non-customer specific work on LN 14 in order to devote resources to LN 12/13 as well as LN 15 and 17 which are going to other customers in 2016.

Makes sense. I can't imagine why Ethiopian would want to install (and pay for) seats etc. ahead of schedule.

According to NYC777's blog, BKB and BKC are both currently under assembly on the 40-26 line, while BKD will shortly begin assembly on the remaining 40-24 "line" (now just one station).

That's a lot of airframes in a single month.

BA is expecting G-ZBKA to be delivered in mid to later September. G-ZBKB is due sometime in mid October. G-ZBKC is now expected to arrive in mid to late October, with G-ZBKD due for delivery in late November.

A nice August for sure -- 14 deliveries if all goes right, with two more providing a head start for September.

In today's teens freakout   , LN 14 moved out of the 40-24 back to outside the EMC, with the tail and wing/body fairings looking more complete than they did when it went in, and apparently also with basic interior fittings.

Any ideas on why Line 315 za839 PrivatAir is flying to KPAE today?

The two undelivered Kenya frames are both on their way from CHS to PAE. LN 317 is about an hour ahead of LN 307, both flying at FL430 to get above it all.
