Building construction crews commonly use a plant to celebrate installation of the highest/final piece of steel in a building. Kinda like a temporary flag on top!

If you had a better view you would probably see the signatures of all the ironworkers on the beam too.

Thanks for posting 817dreamliiner, I've been anticipating seeing the first 789 in BA livery for a long time, looks amazing. Now for first daylight, takeoff/landing and airborne shots.

Does anyone know when G-ZBKB rolls off production line?

Looks like something went awry on the C-1 flight for Qatar 787-8 ZA482 (LN 328). Diverted back to PAE after about 10 minutes airborne.

In various posts on another forum, Woodys Aeroimages reported that both LN 22 for Air Austral and LN 14 for Ethiopian are getting engines and having their cabins installed. That makes sense for LN 22, due for December delivery, but seems early for LN 14, not presently due for delivery until July.

False alarm on LN 14 engines - it is getting cabin installation done, and had engines placed next to it, but those engines were for a new-build aircraft. LN 22 is indeed getting its engines now.

What's the point of installing the interior almost a year before it gets delivered?

Is July the delivery date because that's how long the rework takes or is that when the customer wants to take delivery?

Big day for 787 flight test today... no fewer than four C-1 flights (and of consecutive LNs).

Air Canada 787-9, ZB559, LN 332 http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE559 (complete)
Vietnam 787-9, ZB538, LN 333 http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE538 (in progress)
United 787-9, ZB174, LN 334 http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE174 (in progress)
Scoot 787-8, ZA854, LN 335 http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE854 (in progress)

Quoting dbo861 (Reply 39):

I expect the delivery schedule is Ethiopian's, probably relating to when 757 or 767 leases allow those aircraft to be returned. They are taking delivery of three early-build 787-8s (LN 12, 14, 13, in order) within three months in summer 2016. That timeframe makes sense for LN 12 and LN 13, which started rework relatively recently, but leaves some extra time on the schedule for LN 14. Probably best for Boeing to finish up all non-customer specific work on LN 14 in order to devote resources to LN 12/13 as well as LN 15 and 17 which are going to other customers in 2016.

Quoting kanban (Reply 40):

Makes sense. I can't imagine why Ethiopian would want to install (and pay for) seats etc. ahead of schedule.

According to NYC777's blog, BKB and BKC are both currently under assembly on the 40-26 line, while BKD will shortly begin assembly on the remaining 40-24 "line" (now just one station).

That's a lot of airframes in a single month.

BA is expecting G-ZBKA to be delivered in mid to later September. G-ZBKB is due sometime in mid October. G-ZBKC is now expected to arrive in mid to late October, with G-ZBKD due for delivery in late November.

A nice August for sure -- 14 deliveries if all goes right, with two more providing a head start for September.

In today's teens freakout   , LN 14 moved out of the 40-24 back to outside the EMC, with the tail and wing/body fairings looking more complete than they did when it went in, and apparently also with basic interior fittings.

I can only assume is that NCHS does not have the real estate to keep it in storage and Everett does.

Both Kenya planes (307 and 317) looks like they also will be heading to Everett as well.

Apparently it's due for rollout today, but only going from 40-26 to 40-24 as @woody2190 tweeted to me:

I'm sure someone noticed it before me, but I just noticed that LN369 for VS will be G-VSPY, for the new James Bond Movie.

Thanks NYC777 for the production list.

The two undelivered Kenya frames are both on their way from CHS to PAE. LN 317 is about an hour ahead of LN 307, both flying at FL430 to get above it all.

The flight line will be under construction soon to add 2 additional spots and a storage spot as well.

Probably moving 307, 315, and 317 for that reason.
