Plane In Background Of This Picture?

In this picture from the top 5 of today, it appears that there's an Austrian Airlines Fokker F100 in the background of this picture.

However, according to the photographer, this picture was taken in BNE. How does an OS F100 end up in Australia?

It's actually owned by Alliance Airlines. Which is a charter airline based in BNE.

It really threw me off, and now I'm wondering why it hasn't been painted in Alliance Airlines colors if they've had it since May 2014.

Alliance Airlines is taking over a few Fokkers of Austrian Airlines so that must be the reason. That one particular must have been taken over quite some while ago (before 2014), as this year the Fokkers got painted into Alliance Air colours before delivery here in BTS. Actually, this year Alliance Air is sending their Fokker fleet over to Bratislava into heavy maintenance by Austrian Technics and afterwards the paint is renewed in the AirLivery paint shop over here before the aircraft is ferried back to Australia under a Souther Cross flight number. So as weird it is for you to see a Fokker in Austrian Airlines colours, its weird for us to see all summer Fokkers in Alliance Air colours over here.

BTW, pretty sure quite a few of the Austrian Airlines Fokkers will end up in Australia with some operator.

Looks more like a Fokker 70 to me.

I remember seeing a Gulf Air A319 in YYZ once. Also a whats that doing there moment. Guess it happens in aviation when planes are sold to new customers.

A few years back you would see US Airways and other liveries around the hangers there, from Fokker to 717s.

Beat me to it! I was about to say that there used to be several US Airways Fokkers parked up at BNE. Needless to say it was a surprise the first time that I saw one.
