Picture as of 15 minutes ago.. Fire brigade got foam on that sucker fast! Looks like the majority of the burn damage is in front of the main gear.

Is it just smoke and optical illusion, or does that fire look like it's just front of the landing gear?

Looks like the fire has progressed to the body to wing composite fairing.

Still looks like a RTO (rejected take off) for unknown reasons. I would guess because of a blown or multiple blown tires for the fire to progress that quickly.

I question how soon the pilots requested assistance from the airport fire service.

is this a write-off?

Arghhhh!! Anything can be a "write off", but maybe a better question would be "Is it repairable, or economically repairable?" From the looks of it, it likely is repairable. And at the time of this writing I have NOT seen any close-ups of the aircraft.

Sorry guys i just dropped a mix tape guess it was too hot. Anyway it does look forward of the main gear and does not appear to be coming from the engines which seems like it might be coming from the cargo hold?

The fire obviously broke out very quickly. Quick thinking by the crew to get everyone off there as fast as possible. From the line of people you can see streaming off the slides I don't think many people stopped to get their bags.

Wow. I've never really seen anything like this. Impressive work by the crew and the LASFD.

I'm interested to know more, like everyone else. Also, what is the process to return the plane to service? I'd imagine that repair and inspections galore?

Open to be corrected as wrong but I've read this flight was leaving Vegas, not arriving so not sure if that would heat the brakes.

I very well could be wrong. I just threw out my prior experience at LAS. Whatever it is, we are so lucky nobody got seriously injured or a loss of life.

The wheels are indeed behind the engines, so my theory went out the window. Perhaps a fuel line, or engine issue?

Flames that big, JET A1 was definitely involved at some point in the combustion. This was no brake fluid fire.

Very good news everyone is safe.

Very good that everyone got out safety.

As it's a BA 777 at LAS it can only be operating one flight (2276 to LGW). 274 to LHR is operated by the 744.

And also notice the amount of dust being blown at the start of the video as if the engine/s were at high power.

WOW, that would be one of the last things I would have suspected. Those engines are pretty robust.

Awesome job to the flight and cabin crew and to the firefighters! This could have been SO much worse. Almost reminds me of the TWA L1011 at JFK long ago that was completely destroyed by a fire during takeoff and everyone got out safely thanks to the crew. This BA 777 was a little more lucky than the TWA 1011.

Yowzer .... that's the clearest evidence yet that there was (as described) a catastrophic failure ...

That thing's shredded ...

Pure speculation, but un-contained turbine failure?

Those high speed, high pressure discs are pretty much unstoppable if they fail; we've seen several cases in the past where such a failure has led to a runaway fire (AA lost a 767 this way).

Wow, it was a hot day in Vegas too. Great job by the airport staff too. There was a lot of thick black smoke at the peak of burning and I am kind of surprised they didnt lose the whole thing.

How much fuel is on board? Why are passengers so close to it afterwards? If that thing goes, it will send shrapnel a mile out.
