They had plans to send it to LHR but later switched it over to FRA.

Now Air China just needs to get a 748i frame over there as well!

Nice to see KE bring the 747 back to ORD! I miss the days of their (and many others') 744s plowing the skies overhead early in the morning.

Beautiful. If only UA updated their 744 to 748i it would be heaven.

Yes . It is a shame that no US carriers bought the 747-8i .

I think that the reason you don't see any in LHR is, besides the fact that not too many or them have been ordered, the airlines puts their 748s on routes to airports not ready to accommodate the A380. I don't think ORD is ready to accommodate the A380. LHR is, excluding DXB, the most A380 heaven airport in the world. LAX also is "A380 friendly" that's why KE sends their A380s there as others including AF, LH, BA and EK do.

Well, the USAF is buying the 747-8i. That should be some relief.

Besides those at Atlas Air and Lufthansa, the new AF1s will be the most beautiful 747-8s

But then that leaves this unanswered:
Why don't Air China operate it, as they don't have the A380.

A fair number of airlines, including several major East Asian carriers, don't have either type. Presumably they don't find the business case for either to be compelling.

FRA and SFO both have multiple daily A380s, no?

Maybe they will, if they decide to buy more of them, or if they decide to do an equipment swap.

Indeed they do, yes. I know LH flies the A380 to SFO. Deciding to schedule a 748 or an A380 on a specific route depends also on how many 748s and/or A380s are available in the fleet.
