Titan Airways 767 Operating For Easyjet

Sat Sep 12, 2015 8:16 pm

Titan airways G-POWD 767 is currently operating U28757 for EASYJET, this is this first time I have seen or know off a widebody operating a LCC flight. Any one else seen this before

Can not get the link as I am on my phone.

Titan B757 has operated for easyJet in easyJet livery.

My guess is the B767 may have been the only aircraft available, others operating for BA.

The last time a Titan Airways 757 operated in full EZY livery was I believe 2010.

Titan have been operating a 757 G-ZAPX and a A320 G-POWI on behalf of EZY this summer. However both aircraft have remained in Titan colours,

When you look at the amount of work BA has thrown at them this year I'd be surprised if they did not add a B777 to their fleet.

Titan seems to have had / are still having a really busy summer subbing for BA especially and EZY plus their own work.
Good on them. Hope they expand their fleet - plenty of decent used 763's & 772's about, the ex-KQ frames for example.

They have used Iberia on Madrid rotations that were scheduled for BA metal this summer out of LHR, but as they are sister companies and all the flights on the route are codeshares with Iberia anyway, you might not count this.

Jet2 has also subleased an A320 from Titan for an extended period over the Summer (operating out of GLA I think), in addition to ad-hoc leases to Monarch.

G-POWM has been working for LS out of GLA, I clocked it over my house a couple of days ago working LS135 to FCO.

It's in Titan colours with LS titles, a quite nice livery actually as I didn't realise that titan had acquired A320s until recently.

A used 777 is not cheap and given the nature of their business it's always uncertain if they can place the aircraft. Moreover, I don't think they aim at long haul as you already have an ACMI operator in this market (HiFly).

Fully agree with you, they are only flying a few hours each day due to the nature of the Business (heck, we - my Operator - are leasing one of their QC´s as we speak, causing huge headaches each night due to the QC Bin size!) But on the other Hand, they have been at it for years & doing very well for themselves! Early model 772´s are being ´chucked´at you nowadays - before they turn into Alu cans or part bins...
What the heck, the recent event at LAS Shows us that I am sure there are premium (and perhaps not such...) Operators that would be ripped to have a 772 on the Yard at 3 hours notice! and that is what Titan is floppen good at....

If, they got one, would they be tempted to install a small Business "style" at the front, say 24 and then all Y after, bearing in mind their customer base?
The B737 is all J, they have a mixed B757, could be a winner.

guessing on current availabilty, I bet those few J seats are already there! A few new seat covers, an IPad taped to the seat ahead (although perhaps not flat beds), and off they go!Many a premium Operator is doing just that in J in recent times (I still to this day hate the 6.5 hrs I spent on a VA 737 in J .... but thats a subject for another day), easy to do, huge feedstock available..........

Titan have stated that they plan to phase out there 737, 757 and 767 over the next 4-5 years. Titan plan to replace the Boeing aircraft with Airbus aircraft. With Titan not ruling out introducing the A319, A321 or A330 aircraft to operate along side the A320

Earlier this year Titan appointed Cockley Brake Ltd to sell one of there 737-33AQC aircraft. The aircraft will be available from October 2015 according to the info on the Cockley Brake website

Shame to hear that Titan are looking to phase out their Boeing aircraft, would it be right to assume that there is more type rating commonality between A319/A320/A321 and A332/A333 to allow them to offer a larger array of ranges/capacities but whilst at the same time making all their flight crew type rated on all types which would aid their flexibility?

Titan currently operate there 737QC's on behalf of Royal Mail. I am guessing that the move away from a Boeing fleet will also signal the end to Titan's Cargo operation.

I am guessing that Titan will likely replace there 737-300's with either A319 or A320's and the 757's with a A321 as they are very similar in capacity. I suppose the A332 is the most likely aircraft to replace the 767, however doesn't the A332 carry more passenger than a 767?. The 767 carries 265 passengers in a all economy configuration. Anyone know roughly how many passengers does a A332 carry in a single class configuration?.

or they are an early customer for A32X P2F´s.
Seriously, I doubt Titan will entirely drop that part of their Business model just to move to AB! What of the 146QC´s? (and on this note, I have NOT been watching Titan so don´t flamenbait me if I missed something)
I think they need the flexibility of a top Ad Hoc operator, both in Pax n F! Thats what made them great, although I do see the shift to the Pax side of the game in recent years! I still hope they have a few QC´s, P2F Busses or simmilar around in a couple of years! at the end of the day, the ´flexibility´ of being able to respond to Integrator/FF Needs in recent years has certainly never hurt their bottom line, next to the PAX Business of course

The current Royal Mail contract runs through to January 2017. It will be interesting to see if ZT decide to apply to continue to operate the contact after that date

With Titan moving to all Airbus, eg 319,320,321,330, every crew can fly every aircraft.

It is effectively two fleets. Cabin crew can be rated on both, and the pilots just do dual training on both.

It will give much more flexibility, and have a reduced crew number.

Currently they have separate crews for 737, 320, and one set for 757/767.

Ideally, they could get an older 319 qc if they can find one, have 320 replacing the 737, 321 replacing the 757, maybe even the 321LR, and the 330 replacing the 767.

It becomes an airline with effectively one type.

Titan will add to it's fleet a A319 during Spring 2016 and a A321 before Summer 2016 . Titan are also reported to be interested in acquiring an A318 to support tour operators on niche operations. According to the website aviator.aero

Titan have been operating a 757 G-ZAPX and a A320 G-POWI on behalf of EZY this summer. However both aircraft have remained in Titan colours,

Originally there was a requirement laid down by U2's founder, Stelios Haji-Ioannou, that all aircraft operated by the airline should be painted in an easyJet livery. That legal requirement no longer applies.

There definitely seems to be a growing market niche for operators like Titan, to the point where it seems airlines like EZY and BA rely on them exclusively to boost their fleets at peak periods or cover in times of operational disruption. Titan seem to have steadily grown.

FR has also been using Air Explore (damp lease) and Smartlynx (wet lease) this Summer Season.

Perhaps Hifly should consider getting some more A320 family aircraft!!
