Airline Subcontracting

Sat Sep 19, 2015 9:42 pm

Well, it seems like the trend lately, subcontracting out Customer Service and Ramp. Besides DGS, do any of the subcontractors offer flight benefits? I tried to search to see if this topic has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything.

I know a company called ACS does reservations for Virgin America. I heard they offer them a few passes a year. I do recall Swiss port used to offer free travel on ATA and some other carriers.

Oh..... FedEx. I hear their ramp workers get flight benefits.

With Swissport at my station, it depends on which carrier you're assigned to. AA gives absolutely no benefits whatsoever, but I've heard that some other carriers do offer limited travel privileges after an employee has been working there for a certain amount of time.

Interesting that ULCCs like F9 and NK can provide some travel privileges to their vendors but a full-service carrier like AA won't...

For AA/US, both MQ and EN both handle express ground handling and customer service in the hubs and most outstations. They both receive full flight benefits.

OO offers some flight benefits in their stations.

The only ones that I know do not are Menzies, Simplicity (offshoot of Menzies), GAT and Swissport (for the most part).

Only if they're in a box.

Not exactly. I'm not sure if some, or all Fedex employees do get ID90 travel on some airlines.

Same for UPS. I've checked in ZED travelers from both carriers. I think you have to work at an airport location to get travel privileges, though.

There's also Airserv, which cleans DELTA's planes at various airports.
Bring JetBlue To Mexico City! (TLC and/or MEX would be great)

Most of the service providers for G4 offer flight benefits to their employees.

That was gone after 9/11...

I loved jumpseating on Fedex back years ago when I was with them working as a sorter in Memphis....that was the only reason I worked there in College....
