Just saw on an internal site today that Envoy has supplied 70% of AA's new hire classes to date this year.

"This is exactly what's happening. Large numbers of 50 seat RJs are being retired and replaced by a smaller number of 76 seat jets."

Summer 2016 is going to be better with all of the E175's flying around.
Why endure the nightmare and congestion of LAX when BUR, LGB, ONT & SNA is so much easier to fly in and out of. Same with OAK & SJC when it comes to SFO.

101 messages in and I am still waiting for a compelling argument for why United should even try to buy SkyWest.

Let's be honest, there are two very strong arguments against:

One: United cannot even run one airline particularly well, as evidenced recently by its removal of Smisek, failure to conclude combined labor agreements, broad consumer dislike, and continuing brand and merger discontinuity years post-merger. Let's give them some credit for acknowledging that destroying a functioning carrier would not add to their image.

Two: SkyWest has done its dead-level best to build as much poison into any attempt to swallow it as possible, and that is not just financial, but in its long-term agreements with each of the four carriers it flies for, so as to prevent any one of them from getting any funny ideas. SkyWest has ZERO interest in being procured and will fight like a wounded tiger to the death to prevent it. And it would be a very bad idea to try it.

This whole idea is a poor choice of armchair CEO suggestions. I'm frankly shocked that it didn't originate on Wall Street.

Delta employee rant ? Few years ago, the same could be said about Delta.

Buyiong a regional adds a whole new problem to the mainline airline during contract negotiations.
