i would be THOROUGHLY surprised if it were ANA announced NRT-MIA (but he said new continent, and DOH is strictly speaking in Asia....)

if new continent and new airline are a must, then it's very likely SAA from JNB. A left-field wild card would be ET doing ADD-DUB-MIA. I don't really see MS, RAM, or Arik being realistic chances of anything.

how they been "insensitive" ? The only game changer is if QF does SYD-MEX-MIA with MEX-MIA local rights. If it's an extension of SYD-DFW-MIA that's a LOT of seats with no local rights.

The only insensitive one is Kuwait Air but I'd be shocked if they're going to MIA, esp after how they kicked UA out.

El Al sounds very plausible but that's not a new continent per se.

I'm still betting on something to Africa.

Good guess but they already serve another US destination (LAX). I was thinking Malaysia Airlines but they too serve LAX. Skymark but they don't have an aircraft to make it to MIA (4 stored A330-300's). DY is another but they already serve the US. SAA is the other with sensitive (financial) issues.

I don't believe KE launched a US route this year. They've been in Dallas for awhile

Or an airline that is resuming a route previously flown. JL is resuming DFW next month.

If it is JL, then MIA should be doable non stop from NRT, as the route doesn't even break 6500 nm.

Wonder how and if all of this ties in with YEG and the rumor floating around that airport.

To me, I do not want to argue over whether DOH is located in Asia, but to me Oceania and Middle East are either both Asian, or both not Asian. I wouldn't say that DOH is more Asian than what PER is, but I suppose there will be disagreement. But wouldn't it not be Africa as it previously was served by South African?

Someone did, but it appears that ET is very unlikely.

ET recently commenced ADD-DUB-LAX-DUB-ADD and per recent information, ET is planning to return to the NYC area in 2016 and considering launching IAH and ORD in 2017. No mention of MIA by ET as of now.
