Any training flights to UK airports expected or is she likely just to enter service pretty quickly?

Does anyone know if the F cabin fitted before she left PAE or will she be pooping down to CWL to have it fitted as happened with some previous deliveries?

I was just thinking that might account for the delay in bringing her into revenue service.

Well if she does go pooping down at CWL I don't want to be there could be a rather large mess

Given the recent track record of carriers developing and retrofitting aircraft? Without question not before 12 December.

It takes years to develop a new seat. Then there is the manufacturer lead time that can be anything between 6 and 12 months.

Funny to see the First window blocks applied on the 789. Seems to be mixed reviews on new 8F layout and not even flown yet!

Really? Do tell....

So they must be taking an existing seat, repositioning it, then maybe replacing the bottom seat cushion? I can see the FAA buying off on that, extra spacing should only help crashworthiness.

Just watched the video but is it just me but are a lot of the workers not wearing PPE. How can someone like Boeing have teams working without ensuring their staff are protected or is this a cultural thing in the US.

Non-unionized staff in South Carolina as opposed to unionized staff in Everett would be my guess?

You're showing your ignorance here. The BA aircraft was assembled in Everett and even the fuselage segment being built was the forward section which comes from Spirit. The Al Jazeera mockumentary is a load of manure. Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules are the same in Charleston and Seattle.

Can't really see if people are wearing safety shoes or not or are you referring to lack of high vis jackets on most workers? Different rules and anyway if you can't see someone without them wearing high vis in a brightly lit factory then you shouldn't be there!

They have a very strict safety glass policy. Everyone on the shop floor wears safety glasses all the time. When you enter the factory there is a barrier and a box of safety glasses to borrow.

I've paused the video a few times during the cabin fit stage and there's lots of people definitely not wearing safety shoes. I know you can get training shoes with steel toecaps, but not the canvas deck shoes some of these are wearing.

Also a lack of safety head wear.

If the video is a true reflection of what goes on, in the UK it would have had a visit from the Health & Safety Exec or whatever we call them this week!

The B 789 is so gorgeous, all remaining 788-orders should by converted into 789-orders by law!

I will write a request and send it to the UN.....

Interesting I missed that. Certainly bucks the general trend. One must surmise that the -9 is too large for their particular route needs, but that does surprise me.

'Too right,' parapente - the 787-9 already has more orders than the 787-8, 492 to 457, with 48 already delivered.

No two ways about it, with 1,095 orders already secured, and the B787-10 yet to come, the B787 looks like being the most successful wide-body ever............
