I believe the first CX A350 is being painted in Nov. Introducing it on the 77W makes some sense because then CX can unveil it at HKG, not TLS, and have it out flying about while the A350 won't be delivered until early next year iirc. Or the alternative is to paint the first (possibly couple) A350 in the old livery and hold off until later to introduce the livery but if they are introducing a new livery I doubt they would want to do that versus having their entirely new fleet in the new paint.

Meh.... unveiling of a new livery is one of the more important occasion in an airline's life, so why would you unveil a new livery (after more than 10 years...) on the 777-300ER,
, a type where they have dozens of and especially if they don't get any new planes of that particular type anymore? And then additionally, the 300ER is such a boring looking (!!!) aircraft... ahhhh CX, why???
It would have made much more sense to start a new livery with a new aircraft family, no? But well, this really sucks, but I guess some of the reasons mentioned above are valid and an airline doesn't care much about
us here on a.net... (rightly so ha ha).
I nevertheless hope that we get to see the new livery on an A350 asap.

I am not questioning about the news of 1/11 announcement,
but why don't wait till their 1st 350 for the next month,
especially when CX are not in hurry (for whatever reasons) to introduce a new livery.

Unless it is really a minor update to the livery which 99.9% of their passangers won't even notice.

That is indeed a possibility. Also, the 777 has the benefit of maximising publicity for the new livery right from the start, since the repainted aircraft is likely to rotate across a higher number of destinations in CX's network compared to the A350 - at least until more of the latter are delivered.

As I mentioned earlier, the A350 will emerge from paint...and just sit in TLS (other than test flights) for the next 1.5-2 months. Delivery is not scheduled until early next year.

Much better to unveil it at your home base where you can get maximum coverage from local media and give the chance for employees to get a look. Also then can be placed into immediate service and flying around their network. Waiting for the A350 to have the full unveil means that everyone who cares would have already seen it from when Airbus first painted the plane, or requires Airbus to paint it white/ in the old livery and CX spending their own time and money repainting the aircraft when it is delivered. AA did the latter (with their first 77W in just the basic grey with the tail flag area white) but they were launching a full top to bottom rebrand. CX has already presented their updated brand/logo, it is just a livery refresh.

So which 77W is going to get that "fresh" logo first? I noticed the first several 77W's they received had already been repainted, just wondering which one (B-KP?) will get the "first" treatment.

Well with a CX A350 entering the paintshop now and no pre painted winglets it's going to be obvious soon, rumour of a 777 coming out from the hangar in the refresh livery this Sunday would tie up with the 350 coming out of the paint shop in Toulouse.

Yes Airbus and CX have done a good job to hide even the smallest detail on the aircraft.

Would US carriers be going to XMN from now on having that info? I mean MX is MX, it'll have to pass check-list anyways.

Further to that discussion the XMN maintenance base used to be called TAECO but has now been renamed HAECO so i imagine it's now just an extension of HAECO Hong Kong and the planes go where the work is needed.

That is soooo bad! It could only have been worse if the tail was white with a green brushwing: then it would've looked like China Eastern!
Even I could've come up with something more creative than that! Hopefully this is NOT the real thing...

Coming from someone who works in Design/Architecture, I think it's fantastic. It's simple, modern and clean.

My only negative lies with the fuselage tint. Plain white like what Virgin Austtalua did then no. Silver tint or similar then wow.

It think it will probably look well in the "flesh" ... only 24h to wait before we find out!

Why did they publish it now? Boeing and Airbus managed to keep the secret so why now publishing it just briefly before the ceremony or has it leaked?

Another comment: the picture is somehow strange, I think a.net would not accept this picture since it shows the side of the fuselage that flies in the shadow.

And can we agree which thread will be kept? Right now there are two running in parallel.

It looks like the fuselage is the same as the current livery with the wide light green stripe. They just removed the mustache, moved the titles up and have the enlarged logo before the first doors.

Yes, I don't know what's wrong with me, but I like it. Being a European, maybe I already say too much euro-white and got used to it.

Together with MU's new "colours" it seems as if this is a new trend...

The more I look at it, the more I think it looks rather sharp and contemporary, but at the same time it feels rather cold. The red accents provided that little bit of warmth and vibrance that made the previous livery seem more balanced.
